    Spreading Love Is Never Easy

Spreading the power of love is never easy, even for someone as powerful as Wonder Woman! Greg Rucka hasn't lost his touch with the Amazing Amazon years after his stellar run on the regular Wonder Woman series, but that's not to say there where huge holes with this issue that left me scratching my head. First, let me point out the Nicola Scott redeems herself after last issue's so-so work, perhaps it's that a single inker works over the artist's work and not several as in the past. But what we have here is Diana's struggle to comprehend the power of the violet light she now possess, the reemergence of undead foe Max Lord from issue #1, and a desperate act to save friend, Queen Mera, from being totally consumed by the red light she's come to control (sort of). The battle with Mera and Wonder Woman is intense, both physically and dramatically and I was pleased to see that Diana helps Mera conquer her problem with the light of her violet ring and the magic of her golden lasso. What confused me was the series of mental images both women share when they join rapport. Apparently Mera's rage that fuels her red ring has something to do with Aquaman -- maybe his being a superhero was indirectly relating to the death of their son is the cause, but it's not officially explained. This is an important scene, but truth be told, I can't completely understand it and well, it's irritating! I enjoyed this issue and was pleased it was tied into last issue, but I wish this whole series was more fluid.

The third and final part of this miniseries follows the action in Blackest Night #6, as it might not make as much sense to read straight through (in fact of the Blackest Night tie-in miniseries, this one has the least continuity as a series unto itself.)  Diana comes to understand what has happened to her as Carol briefly tells what has transpired and then Diana heads off seeking to aid in whatever way she can.  She first comes across a horde of Black Lanterns, but it is not long until Hera, sti...

      Love Truly Conquers All! 0

And so does this book! To start off, I love Greg Rucka, although I never read  any of his Wonder Woman stuff. It sorta reminds me off Gail Simone to an extent. Nicola Scott's art is beautiful as always. And Nei Ruffino's colors were so vibrant! For a rundown, Diana embraces  her new violet ring, as she is soon confronted by Carol Ferris. Carol explains the whole situation and they fly to Coast City. This is just a small touch, but I really like the fact that when they arrive at Coast City, we se...
