There are no words to express my elation at this moment.
I could not agree more with this sentiment!! This news has made my week!! I'm hoping for a solo with a big name team on everything. We don't need more bad writing like with Static and Mr. Terrific. Batwing proves that even someone who's completely new has a chance, so why not Black Lightning? If he doesn't have a solo, I hope that he's the leader of a team like the Outsiders where he can get a great chance to really shine and win more fans. Keep him away from Earth-2, and give him an advertising push--and we've struck gold!
ALSO, it sounds like Jeff will be part of the magic community that seems to be gaining prominence in the DCnU. I'm inferring that from the article on CBR. Makes sense given that he's been shown to project multi-colored lightning--even Black colored.
I know that your post is three months old, but I just wanted to add to your Batwing statement. Despite having what I consider the best origin of the new 52, the only reason that Batwing is successful right now is because there are so many team-ups within his book. He doesn't need Batman or Nightwing to help him out, yet DC has pushed those characters on us because they fell that if they don't, readership will plummet. Sadly, the way the industry is, they are right.
Also, I agree. Get him away from Earth-2. I want him alongside the biggest of the big names like Superman, and not Alan Scott and Jay Garrick. And I wish he was the leaders of an outsiders, or got his own ongoing as well.
