A Dream Of Flying last edited by idontgetit on 04/08/23 07:43PM View full history

A group of criminals on the run from the Philadelphia police find themselves in the New Jersey pinelands. After a car crash, the thugs come across park ranger Ned Smith. The criminals take Ned hostage, to use him as a way to navigate the pine barrens and stay a step ahead of the law. Unfortunately for them, Ned Smith is friends with the fledgling super-hero Black Condor.

Black Condor finds Ned missing, and begins his search. Condor finds the ranger using his enhanced senses, but soon realizes that the criminals have other hostages. Condor begins scaring them one-at-a-time, convincing the criminals that he is the mythical Jersey Devil. The criminals eventually turn against each other, and Condor uses this to free the hostages and capture the criminals.

However, when this escapade goes public, it draws the attention of Condor's grandfather, who has been hunting for him.

Reviewing the 12 issue run of Black Condor 0

After re-reading the 12 issue run of Black Condor, I'm pretty sad. This was a series that had some really good potential, but when downhill pretty fast.  At the start, the premise seems interesting: here's this Native American, Ryan Kendall, who has been given the powers of flight, telepathy, and enhanced senses by his evil uncle, the head of a secret society. But instead of playing hero, all Kendall wants to do is hang out in the pine barrens of New Jersey protecting the wildlife with his buddy...
