Kaine is the new Scarlet-Spider. No doubt, I enjoy his stories (plot and art). Recently I've discovered that when someone says Scarlet Spider I think of Kaine first. In the past I would definitely have said Ben, but since Kaine has had the ongoing Scarlet Spider series I have slowly started started to force my brain to accept Kaine as Scarlet Spider.

I guess, for those of us that remember Ben, we can call him the Original Scarlet Spider and Kaine the new or current Scarlet Spider in order to avoid confusion.

Kaine is great and I love his book and character, but I really do wish he had an original name.Like i think he was called taranchula or something when he came back to life as the fuzzy Parker. Idk i think that spiders have enough stuff that should of been able to think of a new name for Kaine.

@Teerack: I've read all his stories till now and, honestly, I believe Yost's been doing a great job. I like Scarlet Spider more than the current Spider-man. He never said he's Scarlet Spider, but since they've been calling him like that, he "adopted" it in a way, cause it reminds him of a better person, that is Ben of course, a person he wanted to be. Deep down, Kaine is like Peter. Anyway, he could have another name, but the whole concept doesn't bother me.

I really the idea of this comic. "All of the Power, None of the Responsibility". I just think that's a neat concept.

One of the things that always annoys me about Spider-man is writers are always trying to give him new powers and abilities, and he always ends up losing them because Spider-man always has to be vanilla Spider-man in the long run.

I've never been a fan of that. I like my characters to grow and improve over time. Get stronger. Probably the reason I like shounen anime so much.

So this idea of them creating this other character that's basically Spider-man, but they can give him new powers and it doesn't ruin real Spider-man is interesting.

They've already given him his the supernatural spider totem powers from The Other. Now he just needs a symbiote and some mechanical spider arms!

I do miss the hoodie though.

I think of the Clone Saga. Then I get sad.

@Decoy Elite: Honestly, Scarlet Spider may be one of the best marvel comic books at the time being. Yost makes you like Kaine. You can't fight it...lol

@Phaedrusgr: He doesn't have to try to hard. Kaine is a good guy, despite the title he does face his responsibilities he just pretends that he doesn't. Honestly he's the Spider-Man with looser morals that Superior pretends to act like it's pulling off, but he's pulled off much better.

Since I don't read Kaine's book, I only think of Ben whenever the name's brought up. Either in his hoodie vest getup or in his web-shooters look.

Ben's my Scarlet Spider, because that's who the character was when I was super-into Spider-Man.

I never developed much of an affinity for Kaine, just not my thing.

Ben for sure. Since I don't read Spider-Man or any Spider-Man related books theses day. Spider-Man is the kind of character there is been there done that. Mostly I don't feel like I want to read Spider-Man after BND/MOD it just seems silly and stupid. So Kaine will for me be a villian in the clone saga.

My mind instantly goes to Kaine but then defaults back to Ben.

I loved Yost's Scarlet Spider series (R.I.P.) but Ben is THE Scarlet Spider.
