Hard to say, comics from the 50's, 60's are hard to find. But it's definitly not the 2010's. I would say the 90's because of :

    • Dark Knight, Dark city
    • The long halloween
    • Dark victory
    • Vengeance of Bane
    • Knightfall
    • No man's land
    • Kingdom Come

Well right now I'm reading the lee wein 70s collection and it pretty horrible. I definitely liked everything from the 30s - 60s and 90s-right b4 new 52 started the best. Only read some 80s comics so I have to read more 80s comics before I vote. Don't like the new 52 that much.

Zeroes. For these reasons, Morrison's run lasted half the decade and it was glorious. You had other great stories with Hush, The Man who Laughs, Under the Red Hood, WHttCC etc. Great side-stories with Gotham Central and currently staple characters (that pull of their own titles) introduced like Red Hood and Damian.

90s is close. But I feel some of the best stories have badly aged. I put the Knightfall saga in the same category as the Death of Superman saga. Stories that aged real bad, real fast. I was never a fan of Dark Knight, Dark city and I am glad Morrison retconned it.

This is a difficult question. I think that the 2010's are great, but ultimately I think that the 2000's are better. So I am going to vote for the 2000's.

I think there are only two Batman stories in the 90's that hold up as great today, and that's Batman year one and the long halloween.

For that I think the 2000s are better.

Year One came out in the late 80s I think.

I gotta go with 70's and 80's. Blue and grey Batman brought back everything about Batman after the horrible Silver Age and basically everything we have now is based on that.

    @muhabba:

I respect 70s batman for what it did for the character but I still don't like it. I like the 80s better than 70s but I haven't read much 80s

I actually don't mind the silver age.

Really difficult, and that just testifies to how many great Batman stories there are.

I think for me it's the 2000s and 2010s...All of Morrison's run, Court of Owls, Hush, Heart of Hush, Man who laughs, and so many other stories.

Though the 80s and 90s are good as well with TDKR, Year One, TKJ, TLH, and others

2010's for me, though admittedly other than Knightfall I haven't read that many Batman comics besides the New 52 stuff.

Late 80's and late 2000's are the best but a decade as a whole the 90's easily. The early 2000's was a band waste land, you know it's mediocre as heck when Hush is the most popular story of the era. Rucka and Brubaker had an awfully mediocre stint on Batman and Tec, they'll be remembered for Gotham Central and Catwoman not Batman. War Games and Officer Down were rubbish, Fugitive/ Murderer was mostly rubbish and saved only by the ending(these were the big events of that time and frankly don't hold a candle to NML or Knightfall). Under the Hood has become the thing that you are unwilling to keep but also cant quite get rid of either.

I think the 90s was probably the best.

    • Batman: Full Circle (1991)
    • Faces (1992)
    • Venom (1991)
    • HotHouse (1993)
    • Going Sane (1994/95)
    • Mad Love (1994)
    • The Batman Adventures (1992-95)
    • O'Neil and Pascoe's run on Azrael (1995-1999)
    • No Man's Land (1999)
    • Knightfall (1993/94)
    • Batman Annual 14 (1990)
    • LotDK Annual 1 (1991)
    • World's Finest (1990)
    • Batman: Shadow of the Bat (1992-1999)

Jim Aparo was still doing great work in the 90s, and the newer regular artists were great too like Norm Breyfogle, Bret Blevins and Graham Nolan. so the comics felt traditional and classic but at the same time fresh and modern, the best of both worlds.

Awesome double page splash from the early 90s by Norm Breyfogle.
Awesome double page splash from the early 90s by Norm Breyfogle.

The 90s was also the decade that saw the introduction of now classic characters like Harley Quinn, Bane, Azrael.

I felt 1990s showed a vulnerable side to Batman that I liked. Especially Knightfall, Hush and No Man's Land.
