The Bat-Suit on Display in B vs. S- lame or clever?

Is having an old suit of Batman's with a message from Joker on it on display in the Bat Cave a lame way of telling movie watchers that Joker existed in the universe Batman v. Superman is set in? Or is it a clever comment on the nature of Batman's relationship with the Joker?

    EDIT: The Robin suit.

That wasn't his suit, it was Robin's (assuming it's Jason Todd Robin and not Dick Grayson).

It's Robin's suit. It was a great idea to hint at Joker but it shouldn't have been put in the trailers.

@thecapeddetective: Shouldn't have been put in the trailers? Because it falsely alluded that he was in it or another reason?

@nateb1211 Ahh, so it was like a Death in the Family reference? Interesting.

@thecapeddetective: Yeah that makes sense. I felt like the trailer didn't really leave anything to the imagination at all. Like a bad slapstick comedy movie, they showed all the best/cool parts just so people would go see it- only to realize those were the only remotely good parts.

@nateb1211: I suppose that makes why Batman was so unstable in B v. S make more sense.
