Looks like it's a good year for comic book movies. Let's hope the most deserving movies and actors win.

Maybe it's just me, but this seems like a real lame year for films. Nothing nominated has been incredible stunning in any way. Two years ago was a good example of great films when we had Children of Men and Pan's Labyrinth neck in neck at every category. Quite a few of the films nominated shouldn't be, flat out.
This was kind of a lackluster year in movies. I've read people saying The Dark Knight got snubbed since it didn't get nominated for best picture of best director. I'd be really surprised at the day something like that happens. It seems the "academy" is kind of snobby. But at least we seem to be making some headway.
I say it got snubbed for best picture. Its the most successful movie since Titanic and they gave that movie a dozen awards and frankly, unless i'm on my period I can't stand Titanic. Aside from that Dark Knight is the best action movie since...ever, in a genre thats been done in every conceivable way, it broke new ground, it sets the bar for every action movie made after it. There's a reason it made all that money, because it was a damn good movie.

I agree that it's a great movie and that it deserves to be in Best Picture running, but honestly, I don't agree with best action movie ever. It didn't really feel like an action movie.....more like a crime movie almost.
It kinda feels a little overrated. Damn good, but overrated.
(Totally agree on Titanic though, I can't stand that movie)
If you don't agree then what is the best? Why split hairs? If its overrated then rate something higher, don't just call it overrated. What are we talking about here? Terminator 2? Anything directed by that godsend to cinema Michael Bay? Delta Force 2: The Columbian Connection?

The Academy is full of stingy old men, who got there by making movies that appealed to the stingy old men who were there before them. They could never allow a comic book movie to win an award, let alone even be nominated. Just someone suggesting it made an old man with a monocle faint and spill his glass of port....
Nolan was also robbed for best director, in my opinion.
Best Action Film Ever: Death Race 2000
I dare you to say otherwise.
50 Points if you hit me. 100 if you hit my grandma.

I really agree here.
I am of the opinion that these people are completely out of loop with modern culture. They snub comic book movies purely because they are based off comic books, regardless of how good a movie is.

In my opinion, Terminator 2 is a better action movie than The Dark Knight. Aside from the armored car chase scene, most of TDK's action scenes really didn't do it for me. The fighting was okay, but it wasn't anything spectacular. Taking into account all of it's parts, I think it might be a better movie than Terminator 2, but I really don't consider it much of a action movie in the first place. That's just my opinion. If I was to take into account all of the movie and all of the movie I was comparing it to, I would say Casino Royale was better.
Props to the movie and Ledger for the nominations.

Two-Face had a lot near the end, but it'sout weighed, I think. It's just so much better to watch a explosion or a chase scene without it being entirely digitized.
