The coming season of BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD might be its last, but this brand of Batman team-ups won’t be going away anytime soon in the comics. Straight from the Source, we’ve got an announcement that THE ALL-NEW BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THEBOLD will be starting in November with Sholly Fisch and Rich Burchett taking the reins after the current B&B ends in October. The two will be bringing out the big guns in the first couple issues with respective guest-spots from Superman and Captain Marvel (or Shazam! As they’re calling him.) As the cover to the right evidences, Superman’s been made over to better fit the overall style of the show.
I wasn’t aware that BRAVE AND THE BOLD, the show, was ending before seeing this promo. So many announcements came out of Comic Con that it was basically akin to an informational big bang. Stars are still forming in the wake, so to speak. Anyway, the word is that a new Batman series is already in the works as a replacement, something that’ll be a bit more serious again. I was under the impression that B&B was doing well, so this is a little puzzling (maybe even riddling.) Then again, I remember that Jeff Matsuda-designed THE BATMAN series was similarly canceled and replaced by this show, however many years ago... so maybe this is just a case of DC Animation revamping things to a little more drastic degree every three or four years? First you get the hip and radical Batman, then you get the classic and friendly Batman, next you’ll be back to the dark and brooding Batman? It’d make sense…
Anyway, how does this new title strike the hearts of you Comic Vine maniacs? Do you figure this creative team will have a good handle on the material? And what would YOU want to see in the new cartoon?
