    Batman Inc.

Team » Batman Inc. appears in 84 issues.

Batman Inc. is the result of Bruce Wayne using the concept and idea of Batman to counter-act the idea of crime. His goal is to make Batman a global franchise and stop crime around the world.

    My questions of Batman Incorporated...

I'm curious how Bruce Wayne intends to bull this off.
I always liked Batman as a sort of urban myth that criminals were scared of. Now Bruce has basicly told the world "Batman's real and I sign his cheques".
How're international governments and law inforcement gonna look at it? It's one thing to operate in the shadows and a whole different thing to come out and tell everyone you're there.
Wont Batman Inc take a heck of a lot of Wayne Industries funding and not bring much revenue back for the business? How are stock holders gonna feel about that? I don't know about the US but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't go down well here un the UK if a CEO or whatever it is Bruce actually does stepped out and told the financial world he'd been spending company money on a secret project.

I gotta admit I lost interest in the Batbooks around the time of RIP and having Bruce doin' his best Sam Becket impression gettin' lost in time didn't do much to get me back. Batman inc and Finches new series aren't helping.

    Any thoughts?

I would think this would be highly illegal. Sponsored vigilantism is still vigilantism. Maybe they have found some way around it?

The justice league and other have been known to work with governments from time to time and DC rarely touched on the issue of its characters legal status. Other teams work covertly. Bruce is Basicly goin' international with a crowd of powerless vigilantes. And he's told everyone his plan.

While the U.S. may turn a blind eye to most vigilantes, I'm not sure what other countries stance towards vigilantism are, I'm  positive Bruce is going to be in hot water for not only admitting that he's been funding "Batman's" war on crime, but saying he plans on taking it global. He may have to get some calls from the U.N. about this. On a side note, while yes, I do agree that Batman works best as urban myth, the entire "vigilante acting as an urban myth" angle only works for the first year of continuity. Tops.

I pretty much agree with you on how long the urban myth idea works but I still feel it makes more sense for Batman to keep out of sight as much as he can. Just to leave that element of doubt in the minds of other characters within the story.

the urban myth would have been around for only the first few years of his career but since he joined the justice league he would be publicly known

Myths and legends like Big Foot and the loch ness monster go on for years. If Batman was never captured on camera of video he's remain a myth. Even if he was the proof woudl be doubted by most.
As for joining the league he could join the league but still stay out of pubic view :)

...he's constantly working with the JLA people MUST have gotten some pictures of him by now. I'm pretty sure he's no longer a myth.

@Gylan Thomas: There are team photos in the league's hall which is allowed to be see by the public and why would people think that cops are putting a big bat sign into the sky for no reason?

I like to think if these characters existed in a real world the general populace would rarely see most if any of them in real life and would often be sceptical as to weather they were even real.
The Bat signal could just be a tourist attraction or to scare the criminal element. I've even read that theory in some stories.

either way. I always kinda think Batman works better in the shadows :)
