As a crime spree unfolds, a writer tries to get into the minds of Batman and his quarry--and only gets in the way. Will the writer get the story he’s looking for, or will she become the story?

Mel Staines is writing a novel about the Batman and his latest case, the thief of some of the most valuable and oldest written works being kept in Gotham.

As Batman tries to follow the clues, Mrs. Staines keeps getting in the way and messing with his investigation. Batman seems to get rid of Mrs. Staines when he follows a clue to the Riddler who is being kept in Arkham Asylum.

Mrs. Staines, heads home where she is revealed to be the real thief. Batman approaches her and she tries to fight the Dark Knight but she is no match for Batman. While Staines is incapacitated, Batman looks around her apartment and discovers the priceless written works have been destroyed. Staines then reveals she stole the books, so she could destroy them so her book would be the best.

Staines is then seen locked up in Arkham laughing insanely.
