    Review: Batman #701 0

What happened to Batman between Batman R.I.P. and Final Crisis? Grant Morrison and Tony Daniel come together to explain what happened to the Caped Crusader in the 30 day period before Batman was killed.  The Good Grant Morrison's writing can get a little confusing, unless you're reading every issue in a story back-to-back. Maybe I'm a little dumb, but when I read R.I.P. and Final Crisis, the light bulb above my head was constantly off. This issue turned the light back on. A wave of "oh, now...

Morrison and Daniel do well, again 0

Right of the bat (no pun intended), if you haven't read RIP and Final Crisis than you will probably be lost in this issue. For those of you who have read RIP and FC, you're in for a treat. I'm a big fan of Grant Morrison, and this issue ranks right up there with his best. This issue has a lot of internal-monologue that is presented so that it looks like it was written in a journal. This may bother some, as this issue isn't the most action packed, but I really like how Morrison writes Bruce Wayne...

Morrison fills in the gaps and ties up loose ends 0

Batman has been through a rough patch these past months. After being broken down and nearly killed by Simon Hurt, he wasn't given time to catch his breath before being thrust into the chaos of Final Crisis, which didn't end well for him. Batman #701 is a chance for the Bat-books to catch their breath as the inevitable return of Wayne is sure to rock the DC universe. Starting here, Morrison is telling a two-part tale that will fill in the gaps between R.I.P and Final Crisis. The book starts by st...

The lost chapters of RIP 0

So.....ever wondered what Bruce was doing before Darkseid sent him back in time? Well, Morrison finally have the answers we've been waiting for to fill in those gaps.   Pros:  To be honest, I'm glad to see Bruce again as Batman than Dick even though this is a flashback arc. We all should know that Bruce does not take anything for granted, as he came close to death from Dr. Hurt who is claiming to be his Father (or the devil). This is where Morrison's writing comes in. Throughout this issue, Bruc...

    Filler that was needed 0

Speedy review:  Well, as Grant promised over a year ago we are getting the story of what happened between the end of RIP and Final Crisis.  Tony Daniel is on the art duties so we have the Batman RIP team back together to finish the story.  We get a review of the main points and it is good to see Bruce in the Cape and Cowl again.  No I haven't missed him like some but that is a credit to the teams writing Dick as Batman and the natural fit that Dick would take over.  Grant reminds us of what we h...
