Batman: Eternal it's right around the corner and this is just a little tease!
Batman: Eternal is coming out this year, starting in April! A year long 60 issue story arc that will feature Batman and his allies in a Gotham that is quarantined.
The Good
Batman: Eternal comes out next month (April, 2014). What better way to prepare readers for the 60 issue year long beast series; than to create a one issue teaser. And man, am I excited for the issues to come! Writers Scott Snyder and James Tynion IV did a magnificent job with teasing to the events in Batman: Eternal. Especially with the characters and how far this story takes place in Snyder's BATMAN continuity.
There are MANY things that will make you ask questions and want to come back for answers in the series next month. Like, "Harper Row works for Batman now, Batman has a new female tech minded partner in the cave, 'ground zero', and Catwoman is a Kingpin?" Snyder and Tynion IV have really set the bar high for this series, especially with teasing so many BIG plot points (esp. DAT ENDING! *fan favorite character returns*).
The teaser story was handled perfectly. The writers really know what plot points to give us readers and which ones not to give, obvious by showing who Batman will primarily be working with in this series. Hopefully, with all they've shown (premise and character wise), Batman: Eternal's story won't lose any significance.
The artwork by Dustin Nguyen was perfect! That is all! The inks by Derek Fridolfs was great as well.
The Bad
No complaints.
The Verdict
This is the best place to be if you want to join the Batman: Eternal train. The story that will revolve around an outbreak and criminal's running Gotham. It's an intriguing plot point that will probably provide some great stories in the 60 issues that Batman: Eternal will be around. Scott Snyder and James Tynion IV's writing for this teaser issue was on key and it makes me want to see what they have in store in the months to come. In terms of story, characters, etc. The artwork by Dustin Nguyen was perfect, I enjoy his art style, and Derek Fridolfs did a great job on the inks. Overall 5 out of 5.
P.S. I might review all 60 issues of the series. Something to look forward to, eh?
