I don't see their motivation to fight in this one.
With the human registration act it was clear and obvious. The lines that characters drew actually made sense to their motivation and personality.
Why would they fight and potentially harm other heroes?
@ezekael: Me too, hope this is better than the first.
Marvel appears to be all about the movie cashgrab at this point. This event essentially exists to promote the upcoming Captain Marvel movie along with The Inhumans and Guardians of the Galaxy.
There's nothing serious about this, and honestly I'm not concerned about the fate of Captain Marvel or Star Lord or the others.
Also the whole premise as to why they're fighting is somewhat absurd.
/pass
I am excited for this, hopefully it will be a worth-while crossover.
And I wanted to comment before all of the whiners come in and start complaining about Events and how they are terrible and how they wont buy them... only to have the events boost sales...
I've no doubt it will sell, but allow those of us who are tied of hero/hero fighting events to at least say so. It maybe a mosquito in the Taj Mahal, but it's all we've got left. I know the guys on the cast will probably sing it's praises and look for the good in it no matter what happens. But really all this is going to be good for is in my opinion some splash pages, some fan division which marvel has learned to profit from and for every hot and heavy fight and argument between the characters in a year or so after this event has ended -no matter what the heroes do to each other, torture, death, betrayal; it'll all be forgotten and they'll just snap back to fighting some other menace. Judging from past events the writers at marvel do not have the writing talent to craft events that have meanings without an expiration date. Tony Stark can throw heroes into jail for life, the X-men can capture and torture Avengers, a clone of Thor can kill someone... Nothing they do actually matters beyond the goldfish level memory that is built into the editorial philosophy of the marvel universe. Personally I find the lack of quality and endlessly recycled storylines very depressing.
Great Ready people.
Get ready for your favorite character to act irrationally than they actually would have.
All the people who talk crap about this are going to be the same people who stand outside my LCS 30 minutes before they open so they can get all the cool variants.
@victorcheenoanleu: Sometimes people just wanna see a train wreck, it's why I saw BvS.
..yeah I think it is irrelevant to go on this journey when they will probably be on the cover of the next Avengers relaunch as teammates...it's like shaking up a pack of M&M's and thinking another color is going to taste different....heroes fighting each other has run its course already...
ive been all marvel since january.... so i am excited for this... although standoff has been pretty awful...... i am still excited for this.
@stormphoenix: god forbid that a character doesnt act EXACTLY the same all the time... because we as people never change moods, or do things we wouldnt normally do.... right???? Right????? You, in your real life never have bad days, or have changes in character..... right???? right??? yeah, exactly.

Not all.

They are acting the same as they normally do. For this to work both sides will have to be unreasonable, immature, willing to beat up and treat friends like dirt (and I'm sure at least one nothing character will be killed for dramatic effect) possibly kill friends and allies and by and large make the villains in the marvel universe look good. When you think of cw1, AvX, Secret Wars... This has become so normal for marvel that it's more shocking when the heroes act like heroes than when they act like villains. It has gotten to the point where the marvel universe doesn't need super villains, it has super heroes.
This will still be the top selling comic during the months it's out for, meaning one of two things;
1. The people here who are against it are the vast minority, and many others will buy it.
2. The people complaining here are hypocrites and will buy it anyway.
I love Marvel's events(I usually prefer DC one shots/self contained stories but the multiverse is just so stupid. Why do you need a multiverse? Is the universe not big enough? 3600 sectors and the GL's don't even cover some of the known universe.)
Marvel now doing lineage characters is pretty cool for the whole sides angle, reforming and mixing friendships after is pretty cool for after..until the nex event.
I wonder which side is which. Between registration and SF, Iron Man could legitimately be on either side. Reed is/was obsessed with fixing everything.
Captain Marvel is sort of a motivational unknown. I get this is for her movie but still it sounds amazing.

Not a very good group of people are we?
I just want to know who it is at Marvel that hates Carol Danvers so much, and why. They seem dead set on ruining her character in every way possible.
I think they are dead set on pushing her and this is the way they are doing it. They dumped her old costume, give her old name to someone else, I think they changed her power set slightly and now they are putting her in a leading roll in a crossover event and she's going to show up in the cartoon. That's pushing her.
In the last cw she was revealed as hypocritical fascist, second to Tony who was revealed as a pure fascist. Tony's profile and notoriety took off like a rocket after cw 1, he stood at the top of the pile in terms of power and achievement. Once Cap was killed Tony was even getting to choose the next Cap. I think that by putting Carol into the number 1 fascist spot marvel is hoping for the same thing to happen. After cw 1 she didn't do too badly either, in marvel the worse you act the more popular you become. She's got a strong fan base and I think they've been desperate for a female lead for years now. Personally the Carol Danvers I liked pretty much died during cw when she beat Julia Carpenter up in front of her daughter. But as someone noted earlier in this thread anyone who doesn't like this stuff is a minority so I really don't count.
Couldn’t give the tiniest s#!t about this.
Same. I'm posting just to let people know I don't care about it, too! :D
Ditto.

I feel the same, Although the idea of Mrs. Marvel leading a team sounds good and the idea of
conflict between two sides is most of the times good, the reason to fight here is not epic enough
to be called a Civil War.
There is a reason to fight and to split sides if it's going to take the "we must capture this guy
before they do" route, but even with that, just like the Civil War that came before the latest Secret it's not an enough reason to call it
War, it's not an enough reason to call it a Civil War comic.
I might check it out just to see how they used Mrs. Marvel when she gets the spotlight and
who know, it might turn out to be a good comic book.
I think I will wait for this one to come out in the library. Then see or I like it. Marvel puts out some crap sometimes. I am not claiming this is going to be crap, maybe just not for me. The problem is that Marvel has made such an impression on my buying and reading habits it's hard to stay away. This week I picked up 6 marvel books and the first 2 where crap. So I went against my new rule which is to pick up at least 1 book from a different publisher, and I'm sorry for that.
Couldn’t give the tiniest s#!t about this.
I saw Bendis. no money shall be spent on this run

OH snap do I detect Sarcasm in this response??? dude You might want to work on that.
ANYWAY, writers have a habit of changing the personality of a character to further the plot of Big Events case in point AvX.
SO as I said people get ready for your favorite heroes to act out of character.
