Awesome Toy Picks: The Avengers Mini Muggs

With The Avengers soon to hit theaters, the movie related merchandise has already arrived in stores. Hasbro hasn't put out any new Mighty Muggs in a bit but they have released some Avengers-related Mini Mugg figures. Now you can get miniature versions of your favorite Avengers in a tinier form.

There's basically two sets being released simultaneously. One is geared more towards the movie depictions of the characters and the other is more true to their comic book counterparts.

I will admit I didn't go too crazy when it came to buying them. There is a couple good things about them being released in mini form versus the mighty form. The cost is less and they don't take up as much space in your collection. The bad thing is they won't be in proportion with any you previously purchased. (You can check out our spotlight on the Mighty Muggs here). Keep in mind that the hand accessories are not removable. But they are "made from 100% recycled awesome."

I went with movie Hulk and Nick Fury and comic book Loki & Thor and Red Skull & Captain America. For the Hulk in particular, I didn't really care for the expression on the other version's face.

The nice thing about the two packs is you get the hero paired with their nemesis. And again, I went with the comic book version of Thor rather than the Chris Hemsworth-ish version.

The comic book-ish Captain America was paired with Red Skull. Imagine the mischief they could get into during their skirmishes.

2270603-dsc_1093.jpg

And of course when the villains unite, they might be too much for the heroes.

Unless a true badass hero comes along.

And of course if you do have some Mighty Muggs, you can always pretend they're father and son.

I like the expression on the Mighty Hulks face, its like a not mad but childishly cute face.... also the difference in color of the two hulks is very Hulk-and -Skaar-ish. Nice review, I'll probably pick up the cap and red skull one, its cool how the gleam in red skulls eyes are mini skulls

Also do you know if the Iron-man mini has the whole face lift up to tony stark face thing the mighty version has?

What is the appeal of Mighty Muggs? I mean I like them too, I really do. I just can't figure out why. I want to make one out of my own character Monkey Boy.

saw these at Target the other day and talked myself out of buying them....the only problem was that the Captain America I saw was missing the star on his chest...boo on that

Saw these at Wal-Mart yesterday. I picked up the movie Cap and the Cap/Skull set, and my friend got Iron Man and Hawkeye.

Be honest, Tony. How much fun did you have setting those up and taking the pictures?

I’m guessing half the point of Mini Muggs is how “simple” they are, that said I think each one could use one more color on it.

@The Dark Huntress: And I did this at the CBS Interactive office. Out by the stairs in the lobby. In other words, people were walking by as I was setting them up and taking pictures. No one stopped to ask. Either it didn't phase them or they simply didn't want to know what I was doing. We've only been there a couple weeks now.

I do love Mini Muggs and Mighty Muggs. I actually don't have any comic ones (unless Snake Eyes counts). I should fix that. Does Hasbro have the DC licence as well? Because I'd go crazy for a Batman Mighty Mugg.

EDIT: Nope, but Marvel. Bummer.

I swear, the Red Skull one looks like what Stewie Griffin would become if allowed to continue his totalitarian ways. So darn cute.

Those Mighty Muggs are pretty darn cool. I've been holding out on buying one of the Avengers ones (for reasons unknown even to me), but I definitely wanna pick one up before they disappear.

Also; can't wait for the Avengers Lego sets to come out. I haven't owned Legos in years, but they look awesome.

Loki's mouth is too weird. He should have a evil smirk, but the mouth is too wide and I don't think Loki has pointy teeth. It just doesn't work.

I bought all of these the second I saw them in Toys R Us. I kept the two packs in their boxes but the individual ones I immediately opened for display.

I currently have the movie versions of Hawkeye, Thor, and Nick Fury on my left monitor, and comic versions or Iron Man, Hulk, Cap, Iron monger, Red Skull, and Abomination on my right monitor. Everyone at work always swings by my desk to play with my mini muggs lol.

These mini muggs are just as awesome as the regular size ones. I love how they appeal to so many people, they're unique and open buyers to the world vinyl figures. If you can't see why they're so great you clearly have a bearded mental disability. Hope they keep'em coming.
