The Avengers are Earth's mightiest heroes and foremost super-team... "There came a day, a day unlike any other, when Earth's mightiest heroes found themselves united against a common threat. On that day, the Avengers were born - to fight the foes no single super hero could withstand! Heed the call, then - for now, the Avengers Assemble!"
Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer, anyone?
Looks amazing. I Cannot WAIT!! Hulkbuster vs Hulk has always been a dream match of mine when it comes to real life movies or shows
I'm pretty pumped to see what they're doing with Quicksilver. I think his costume looks dumb, but he's always been a favorite of mine.
@oldnightcrawler: Marvel do have to maintain some costume realism... That's why you see Ultimate Hawkeye's costume rather than the original purple one...
@awesomeperson: They could have adapted though, it's possible to do it without it being as ridiculous looking as people claim. I mean Cap and Thor's is pretty close to the comics.

sure, but a plain blue shirt with a lighting bolt would be no less realistic than what they have him wearing in this movie anyway.

Well, Thor's from another planet (or whatever) and Cap's* supposed to be a symbol, but Hawkeye doesn't really have any reason to look like what his classic look was (even if it would be kind of awesome). Even if they went with his original origin that saw him start out as a circus performer, there's really just no sensible reason for him to wear that mask. A mask, maybe, but not that one.
I get why they would make Hawkeye more like his Ultimates counterpart than the classic 60's version, it just makes his origin less far-fetched and fitting the tone of the MCU. But with the random white highlights they put on Quicksilver's movie costume is anyway, you'd think they could just put a frigging lightning bolt on there instead.
*(who's new costume also looks kind of dumb)
@oldnightcrawler: They could have had him as SHIELD's representative or something, hoping to make their agent stand out amongst the Asgardian, Living Legend and Monster. They could have had the goggles be high-tech equipment and the covered head to be protection. They could have thought of several reason as to why he wore the suit, considering the writers do that for a living.
Either way, if they wanted to show the audience why a guy with a bow and arrow should be fighting alongside a god, genius, monster and living legend, then having him in the most ordinary costume possible wasn't a valid way.

why would SHIELD want a public representative that stands out?
Isn't public relations, like, the opposite of what they do? If anything, it seems to me like they would want their representative on the team to stand out as little as possible so as not to draw attention to their involvement..
@oldnightcrawler: Yet they carry around a team of superheroes in a helicarrier?

an invisible helicarrier.
Seriously, do you not know what S.H.I.E.L.D. is?
@oldnightcrawler: Yeah, but you're arguing logic for a secret agency that seems to go over the top in whatever they do.

how so?
@maccyd: Cap is supposed to look ridiculous and Thor's costume isn't ridiculous anyway...
