After the events of AvX and Cyclops being imprisoned, could Havok really step up and be a better leader for the X-Men than Cyclops (minus the crazy Phoenix wielding version)?
Avengers Unity Squad
Team » Avengers Unity Squad appears in 421 issues.
A superhero team comprised of both Avengers and X-Men that was formed by Captain America with a goal to show the world that humans and mutants can work together.
Could Havok be a Great Leader for the X-Men?
Possibly, but I am leaning towards no
Havok has shown some potential (Mutant X) as well as near total incompetence (X-Factor and X-Men). This is a good chance for him to establish himself as one of the better 2nd tier of X-leadership, but he is not ready to take the reigns by any means. As badly written and batsh!t crazy as Cyclops has been shown, Havok is still a very pale imitation.

I agree, but I think if Havk is given a chance to grow he could be, but most likely the "I'm my brothers shadow" thing will hold him back as it always has.

Incompetence? Could you list some examples?

Agreed

I miss this era of the X-Men, where mutants were an vibrant part of culture. Morrison deserves more credit for commenting on the staleness of X-Men stories

The entire run of X-Factor as a government sponsored team? He made Captain Britain's leadership of Excalibur look good by comparison.

@Brazen_Intellect: You forget his defeat of Gabriel during War of Kings.
Never read all the way through War of Kings, could only make it so far before getting bored to tears. If it's a good enough showing to mention i'll have to give it a 2nd look.

Really? I'll have to read Peter David's X-Factor to be sure. Could you list specific displays of his incompetence?
@CobaltArchangel:
Well in a team full of leaders, essentially it would be hard to lead them! Captain America, Wolverine, Rogue, Thor (maybe Scarlet Witch... kinda) have all lead in their time... Havok has leverage too, having lead several times since his creation but his leadership has never been... strong!!
Lol no. The guy's tried far too hard trying to image himself like the brother he will never be.
And when you consider the fact that Havok doesn't even classify himself as an X-Man anymore, the answer to the question's more than obvious.

hes not an X man so no, an Avengers leader sure. I mean look at all the screw ups Cap made during AvX and hes still the face of the franchise, how can Havok do any worst :D
Well, for starters, he could obtain a cosmic force, try to rule the world via dictatorship, attack his own girlfriend for more power, kill his father figure, and attempt to destroy the world. That might do it! LOL. ;-P
No. I like Havok, but unfortunately for him, his lack of consistent membership in the X-Men hurt any leadership qualifications he might have had in the long run. It's a popularity contest, with the other X characters and the real life fans, and he's consistently been portrayed as a 2nd tier leader.
