Last week, quite a few posters for Avengers: Age of Ultron were released, featuring different characters from the film. Today, Jeremy Renner, who plays Hawkeye in the upcoming film, released this poster on WhoSay today. Check out Hawkeye posed for action or incredibly deep in thought.

I agree, however I think the first Avengers movie made it doubly worse by making his character completely boring. They're not going to take him out so they better make him interesting.

If Jeremy Renner acted like he did in The Town and Hurtlocker I could easily see him pulling off Clint's personality. Why don't you like him in the role?

I thought the early action scenes with her in Avengers were done well, but her fighting the aliens wasn't. She was totally out of her league while tony, thor and hulk were doing all of the work. All it did for me was ruin the sense of scale of the battle. She was perfect in Winter Soldier though.

I also agree we need more Hawkeye. I mean it's easy to understand your doubts with JR in the role when they haven't even let him play the actual character yet.

I've seen quite a few of his interviews but thus far the writers/director has gone for a more serious Hawkeye.

@vance_astro: funny that you said that since in the movie a morals on black widow defeated a bloodlusted hawkeye without getting a scratch, so if she can take him so easily what makes you think that he deserves more to be an avenger than her? i mean she was an essential part to win the blattle, she recruted Hulk, saved Hawkeye, outsmarted Loki, and was the only one who took the time to try and close the portal, so idk how can you think she was out of her league when she was the one that actually saved the day along with tony.

@masterpiece: The deleted scenes pretty much show that Hawkeye was holding back. Fury says if he wanted to kill him he would have shot him in the head, not the chest. I imagine it's similar with Natasha who he has a close bond with. Not to mention it was a hand-to-hand fight not ranged combat.

I pray there is some Matt Fraction influences applied to the character this time around. Even a few small references would satisfy my nerd hunger.

My point wasn't that Black Widow is out of hear league it was that she's easily replaced. If she wasn't there to do anything she did in the first Avengers film those tasks would have just been given to Hawkeye.

I just pray they take some 616 Hawkeye influence he has severely lacked his classic charm and wit.

He got to have like 10 minutes of screen time (while being himself). Calm down, you people are acting like Hawkeye has been in three movies so far and he has still been lackluster. Whedon and numerous others have gone on record to say that Hawkeye plays a much bigger role in AoU, plus you can see him smiling and joking in the party scene. You really think Whedon is going to pass the opportunity to write a witty character?

@drellassassin: He's my favorite character. They could show a video of him doing everything I want and I still be nervous it's just encoded. I have faith in Marvel but that's the thing about faith you can lose it.

@masterpiece: people always use outsmarting Loki as proof of her relevance to the team but she didn't do anything to stop his plan. He plan went off without a hitch regarding the hulk. And anyone could've beaten Hawkeye in a fight. I'm not saying she's useless but those two are bad points of evidence

Thus far he's been like the guy on the championship team that gets a ring but he rode the bench. Agent Coulson has made more of an impact and he's just a S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent. With the stories only getting bigger and more characters being added I don't see how they are going to be able to give Hawkeye the proper attention he deserved leading up to and just after the Avengers film.

Give this guy some trick arrows please, he needs to be useful.
