    Origin

    Ian Costello grew up hunting. When he joined the G.I. Joe team he was given the task of driving the Dominator, a cold weather tank.

    Creation

    Avalanche was introduced during a series of vehicle releases in 1987. He was introduced to comics by the team of writer Larry Hama and artist Ron Wagner.

    History

    Avalanche, along with fellow drivers Blaster, Blocker, Knockdown, Dee-Jay, and Maverick, died in a Cobra bombing, with Dodger being the only survivor.
