Zack Snyder Not Sure About 3D Superman

Will we see the Man of Steel flying out of the movie screen?

3D or not 3D, that seems to be the question these days. While there seems to have been a big push to make everything in 3D, lately some studios have been holding back on either filming or converting their movies to 3D.

Digital Spy reported that Zack Snyder isn't sure if Superman will be in 3D or not. I have to admit I do like 3D movies provided it is done well. Synder himself, who recently directed the 3D animated Legend of the Guardians, said he would use 3D for Superman as long as it wasn't just "a gimmick."

If Superman was shot in 3D, that could give some cool moments. Obviously it wouldn't be crucial. What really matters is will there be a good story.

What is interesting about this is I wonder how much say does a director have in this decision versus what the studio wants. Can Snyder just tell WB that 3D wouldn't work or would he have to find a way to make it happen? I think the best way to handle 3D movies is to offer moviegoers a choice. There are times when you can choose whether you want to see the movie in 3D or in 2D. It just depends on how big the movie is and whether or not the theater is willing to use one screen for the non-3D version.

Do you think a 3D Superman movie would be cool or do you think it'd be too gimmicky?
