Will We See Nightcrawler And Storm In 'Days Of Future Past' Movie?

Director Bryan Singer hints at whether or not we may see these two characters in the upcoming sequel to 'X-Men: First Class.'

There has been plenty of talk about the familiar faces we will see return to the upcoming X-Men: First Class sequel X-Men: Days Of Future Past. We already know that actor Hugh Jackman will return to reprise the role of Wolverine, but that's not all. The upcoming film already has a massive, star-studded cast. Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Ian McKellan, and Patrick Stewart among others are likely to appear in Days, but there are some popular characters who we may mot see make it to the big screen. Among them are actor Alan Cumming who played Nightcrawler in X2 and Halle Berry who played Storm in X-Men, X2, and X-Men: The Last Stand. So will these two very popular X-Men characters return for X-Men: Days Of Future Past?

The film's director Bryan Singer has been tweeting and teasing the return of many of these actors to their respective roles and has been vocal in regards to his excitement to be working on this film, but he hasn't really divulged any information in regards to whether or not these actors will reprise their respective roles in Days. When asked whether Berry would return as Storm, the director stated that he enjoyed working with her, but that things were still up in the air.

I can't say. I don't know yet. And it's not necessarily a deal making aspect at all. I want to make sure it'll make sense. But I love working with her.

It seems though that the reason Singer doesn't know yet is because he is still working out the kinks of his script. In yet another interview with The Huffington Post, the director hinted that he wasn't sure of the direction he would be taking the film and therefore "doesn't know yet" if Nightcrawler would need to be involved.

You know ... we'll see…Yeah, I know. I don't want to ... sometimes you don't want to say 'yes' or 'no' to something that may not be a 'yes' or a 'no,' or anything. I haven't decided yet, a few things. I'm still, you know — there are certain aspects of the script that I'm still toying with.

It sounds like things are early enough in production that we may yet see Storm and Nightcrawler in the movie, but what do you think? The cast is already pretty big, so should these two characters return to reprise their roles? Do you think we would need Nightcrawler and Storm in a X-Men: Days Of Future Past movie, why or why not?

See people complained that x3 was over crowded, but they've complained before that their favorite character wasn't in a movie. Once their favorite character was in a movie, but had a small role they complained. The character had little screen time so that every other character got equal amount of time. While making sense to the story, so they complain about having too many characters. It's a never ending circle. I say Nay to Kurt or Storm. We have enough characters, and I don't want to watch another X3. They can have a cameo or something, but I don't want them affecting the story. (+)

Definitely agree with this!

How is Storm not in the sequel? She ended X-3 as headmistress of the school...

Famke Janssen did an interview about X3 and though she didn't name names, she claimed that X3's plot was heavily affected by certain people wanting to be featured more than others as well as structural issues with the Phoenix plot. Anyways, I would care to wager the most likely offenders were Halle Berry and Hugh Jackman when it came to screentime monopolizing. I don't think Halle had the best working relationship with Bryan Singer either so I'm not sure.

It's a shame but it doesn't surprise me in the least. In a lot of ways, X-men created many opportunities for Berry and Jackman but often times stars like to be in control ultimately. Hence Hugh and his wife and sexy production partner capitalizing on Wolverine the way they have.

She rallied for more screen time, because she felt that she was just being a background character (oscar/razzie and all). She did at least light research on Storm, and that was enough for her to get frustrated with Bryan. Bryan, on the other hand, was more focused on the love triangle, and the frequent references to gayness and racism. The latter was fine, but he did actually go overboard with the former. However, I still liked the sound of his idea for X3 more than I liked the ish that Ratner ended up giving us

I think Halle was ultimately miscast, she was too gentle of a presence in the role which I think left her character a less viable option for leading character material. Storm is an imposing presence, she's not at all the shrinking violet or strong silent type, the actress who plays her has to be built like Grace Jones with the depth of a Angela Basset-type of actress. Tough to find talent for that.

Though, speaking of Famke, she was the best thing about X3 and was great in the other movies. She really gave it her all, I'm sure if Singer had directed her in X3 then it would've been amazing. Just think, that Phoenix emblem flying over Alkaline lake....UGH. Would've been so awesome.

I completely agree. I've found that, the stronger Storm looks, the less likely it is that she'll be fodder....which may go into a bias against "soft" beautiful women, but it's true. That, and the fact that you simply can't have Storm's character successfully portrayed without her character coming at you like "BAM" with her physical appearance.

Phoenix was set to be HARDCORE Phoenix-y under Bryan Singer's direction. I don't know who decided to make her turn "cracky", but it was a choice that I HATED. She was on fire in X2, but she was just dirty looking in X3. Hated it. But Famke was selling her craziness very believably.

That's cause it wasn't just Hugh Jackman flailing his arms as if he's a skilled warrior. It actually had good choreography

id like to see storm and nightcrawler in the movie, theyre staple characters of x-men. BUT, i does sound like the movie is being over cast again. If Bryan adds these two, i think he would have to boot others out. Characters from first class like banshee, havok, and angel would seem like extra's. Anybody think there are going to be any brand new characters from the x-men universe in this new movie?

I hope so. Nightcrawler is my favorite X-Man, so I was pissed that he only got one film. (Y'know, like Toad, Angel, Juggernaut, and Blob all did)

I would definitely love for Storm and Nightcrawler to be in this movie, but I hope they actually get good roles and are not put into this movie just because they are popular. It would disappoint me that they are just there as cameos or don't have a major role to play in this movie since that would be wasting their characters.

Without them you have no right calling it Days of Future Past. Then again none of the X-Men movies make any damn sense so I guess we will have Wolverine leading the X-Men that consist of Iceman, Shadowcat, Puck and Beast. *sigh*
