Warner Brothers Set To Release Watchmen Director's Cut Screenings

Just in time for San Diego Comic Con! Coincidence? I don't think so...

While I did hear about this yesterday, I wanted to wait until the official release from Warner Brothers to post about it. Just in time San Diego Comic Con everyone, is the official Director's Cut release of 'Watchmen'! Personally, while I was pretty excited about the movie when it first came out, I am not so sure that I would pay to see the film in theaters again simply for Directors Cut footage...I may just wait to see it on DVD. However! If you are interested, here is a list of theaters that will be showing the special edition of the film. The Blue-Ray disc is set for release on July 21st.

* AMC Empire 25, 234 W. 42nd Street, New York, NY 10036

* AMC Media Plaza 6 (AKA Town Center 6), 770 N. 1st Street, Burbank, CA 91501

* AMC Mesquite 30, 19919 IH 635, Mesquite, TX 75149    * Kerasotes Block E 15 Theaters, 600 Hennepin Ave S., Minneapolis, MN 55403

Additionally, there will be a screening of the film version at San Diego Comic Con, which director Zack Snyder was definitely excited about .

"Comic-Con, it isn't just comic book fanatics, it's cinephiles as well. It'll be cool to discuss what people are thinking," Snyder said at a "Watchmen" press day, held Wednesday at Warner Bros ., where the news was unveiled.

What do you guys think? Will you be going out and watching the 'Watchmen' for the director cuts? What about picking up the blue ray disk? Would you pay to see this movie again?

I thought the original Watchman movie was ok.  It had some good parts and "tried" to be faithful to the comic, though there was simply too much and of course there was the usual adding elements that weren't there before.  Would I see it again in theaters for the director's cut?  It seems doubtful, as I can be patient enough to wait for it to come out on DVD in a month or so.

Grabbing a blue ray for sure. Would that be the first time a director's cut is on the big screen? I've never heard of that...but since I live in a french canadian province that could explain why.

Well there was the Star Wars Trilogy Special Edition, that came out in 1997, dont really know if you'd consider those a director's cut, but they we're actually good, unlike most of Lucas' update to the series

Will be waiting for the Blu-Ray considering it's coming out in a couple of weeks. If they had put it back in theaters sooner than I would have been more likely to go see it again. 20+ minutes of extra footage is quite a bit.
