Eight weeks before shooting began on Iron Man 2, J. Michael Riva had just gotten the first real script. But he did have a list of sets and plot points. The first item on the list read: "Tony, in the Iron Man armor, pukes in a toilet."
"I design a toilet," says Riva. "My big job for the day. After that I can go home. My kids ask me, 'What'd you do today, Dad?' I designed a toilet!"
As production designer, Riva is responsible for the look of the toilet — to make sure it fits with the look of everything else in the film and doesn't stick out.
There you go. Looks like we'll be seeing a drunk Iron Man. I can't wait!
