Third 'Mortal Kombat' Movie Rumors

Actor Chris Casamassa reveals plans for the the production of the third installment to this franchise

It feels like Warner Brothers owns everything, doesn't it? At least it does to me; and it seems as though their assets just continue to increase. It's been a mere two days since the news release of the Warner Brothers buyout of Midway Games' assets; which is responsible for bringing you games like 'Mortal Kombat,' and already we have news about the supposed plans for a third Mortal Kombat film.

The SGV Tribune spoke to actor Chris Casamassa, who played the role of ' Scorpion' in the last two films. In the interview he discussed his plans to begin filming the third installment to the Mortal Kombat franchise this September. I've personally always felt as though video games never made very good material for films. There is usually too heavy of a focus on the action sequences, and we end up having little to no character development and a less than desired amount of dialogue. I do not personally see a third installment to the Mortal Kombat films faring well, considering 'Mortal Kombat: Annihilation' did not do very well at the box office. Not to mention, the sequel to the first film was released over ten years ago. I feel as though the window of opportunity for a third film has long passed, but maybe I am wrong? What do you guys think? Would you see the third Mortal Kombat film, or do you feel that this is one franchise that needs to die?
