am i the only one who's worried about his acting, as much as i love the rock

@super_soldierxii: I don't think they need a great writer for a Shazam movie. For example, the animated movie with Superman is pretty cool. Maybe they can just made a live action version without the big blue

The only thing I'm worried about is a previous article pertaining to the shazam speculation. The rock said the movie might become a family blockbuster film which means campy and a flop

I'm hopeful the Darren Lemke's credits don't inspire much hope, other than LOST (not the TV show). Hopefully the script is good because I always come back to this Akira Kurosawa quote

It leaves you to wonder who could possibly play Shazam who's his equal physical stature. Seriously who?

I'm one of those guys who like their movie counterparts to look as close to comic characters as it's possible, and while Rock isn't perfect for BA, I will lie if I'll say I'm not pleased. Very satisfying call.

Now let's hope they'll make him a complicated as close to anti-hero as possible, instead of some lame typical villain.

Off the top of my head, I would go for Armie Hammer. He's 6'5, late 20's, and can easily put on some massive muscle. I think he can also pull off the boyish charm and super hero intimidation needed for CM. He just needs to dye his hair and we're golden.

Though, with this being set in the DCCU, all of a sudden Superman will be the smallest hero lol

Aquaman (if Jason Mamoa) - 6'4

Seeing as I started watching WWE in 1999 right before WM, when TripleH dressed as Goldust to shoot a flamethrower in Kane's face, but didnt get caught up with everything until the King of the ring in June, with Austin going out in Novemeber, I am more of a Rock fan. There was no network to catch up on Austin's gettest hits for just 999. Still, his Hercules was a piece of shit.

They really should rename the character Black Marvel.

They could even do an origin movie were Adam starts out good, but turned evil.

@muyjingo: Billy Batson aka Captain Marvel Shazam is actually popular with the fans of DC universe. Example of not very popular DC characters are Katana, Mister Terrific etc

@boynerdgeek: He is somewhat popular, but no where near the levels of popularity of other JL members, nor anywhere near as well known outside of comicdom. Just saying it's a weird choice to me to prioritize the lesser known property.

@muyjingo: well Marvel push Guardians of The Galaxy which can be consider not popular but now they're popular. Nothing wrong about push not very popular characters. Besides Shazam Captain Marvel is now part of Justice League in the comics so yeah he is actually I will say among top 10 or 20 DC most popular characters

Being a top 20 character doesn't mean much. GL, Aquaman, WW, Cyborg, MM, all are more popular and would be more of a guarantee in my mind.

@muyjingo: we have couple years ago GL movie and it fail. To be honest the only money makers in DC aside from Batman and Superman probably imo is Wonder Woman and The Flash. As much I like Aquaman , general public who don't read Aquaman thinks he is silly and campy sigh. Meanwhile I love Martian Manhunter but he in the comics always part of the team. He never really establish as stand alone solo characters comics ongoing series. This can be said with Cyborg So Shazam Captain Marvel technically their big chance to get money from normal general public audience especially from kids and parents if they make it family friendly movie because Billy Batson is example of what kids want to be. A kids who just say one word and can become godlike superhero. How cool is that :)

@boynerdgeek: It failed because it was a bad movie. WB are not putting any real effort in making their movies good, they just want money. Look at the vast difference in quality between the video games and the movies. Games like DCU and Injustice show just how well the developers get the universe, and the cinematic in those games, I suspect, will be superior to any movie released.

Shazam is not a concept that would appeal to everyone, a boy in an adult body with powers is amusing for a while, I don't know that it can carry a franchise. They could try again with GL, which is such a rich universe and could be DCs answer to GofG, they could explore what it means to be human with Cyborg and those types of stories always do well, especially with action and special effects.

I don't think the general public thinks Aquaman is campy, they just don't know about Aquaman. They don't like him less than any other lesser known hero. People would go and see an Aquaman movie in a heartbeat if it looked like a good movie.

I guess we will just have to wait and see how the film turns out.

This is why you said that this is not good idea etc. Yup DC is success with video games and animated movie :) but WB right now is not success with live action that is why disney and fox etc wanna buy WB. All WB need right now is big franchise. Look at Universal, they have Transformers franchise. Yes it is shit quality but it makes billion dollar worldwide. WB struggle to make money so a kid friendly movie like Captain Marvel Shazam can attract kid just like Cars franchise animated movie, Ice Age animated movie etc which is not good movies compare to How To Train your dragon 2 etc

I'm just saying it would make more sense for them to prioritise a known, safe money maker rather than an untested, lesser known character like Shazam.

If they are trying to attract kids GL would make more sense since it's full of aliens..., the failed movie doesn't stop a reboot just as it didn't with Hulk.
