I haven’t read the Andy Diggle/Jock series yet, so I can’t judge how faithful this adaptation will be, but it looks like some stylish fun. There’s a gag with Chris Evans shooting down some goons with his fingers that got a hoot out of me and also a cool bit with the Losers sneaking into somewhere within coffins. I'm thinking of trying that sometime.
The director’s Sylvain White, whose biggest prior credit was the collegiate dance movie STOMP THE YARD. He’s been attached to make a movie out of one my favorite comics, RONIN, for several years now. If this flick does well, I’d say there’s a good chance he’ll finally get to do it. Personally, I don’t think the Frank Miller book would translate well, even despite the abundance of cinematic layouts that could no doubt be recreated, panel for panel, frame for frame. It’s got one mind-bending head-trip of a story and is pretty ripe with Freudian symbolism that would probably be too much for audiences just looking to watch a samurai shred some cyborgs (or think they’re actually getting an adaptation of SAMURAI JACK.)
