The Fate of the Ultimate Universe Revealed [Updated]

Damn, now my thread will be locked :(

I love this Ultimates team because the latest Ultimate Spiderman stories have been making me want that team to become the "Young Ultimates" but this will work as well.

So what I'm guessing what happens is that The Ultimates are destroyed (hence the title The Ultimates Last Stand) and the new team of Ultimates will be pretty much what we've been seeing in Ultimate Spider-man with the addition of Kitty Pryde. Sounds interesting.Does this mean the original Ultimate FF will reform in response to the revelations that Ultimate Reed found out recently about his 616 counterpart?

@idontlikebirds: The FF is actually Future Foundation and will have Tony Stark, Sue Storm, Reed and others.

Well it says that Tony Stark and Sue Storm are the only two announced Ultimate FF members. I think that FF is meant to be taken as Future Foundation, not Fantastic Four.

But yes, I'm guessing that either most of the Ultimates die or they decide to retire from superheroics.

It's cool to see Michael Fiffe working on something other than his own stuff. I've loved what I've read of Copra.

Good cuz overall the Ultimate line has sucked since Ultimatum. Only saving Grace was Spider-Man

I can rest easy now knowing the Ultimate universe isn't ending though I do wonder who isn't going to make it out of Cataclysm

Hell yeah! Glad to see the "team" from USM is going official.

I'm stuck between one of two:

1) Doing my happy dance because this all sounds so awesome and I love the UU.

2) Being the usual negative internet person because the Ultimate U is changing even more by killing off more characters.

I think I'm leaning more towards 1 though so it's okay!

I am conflicted.... Like slowly the Ultimates line is gonna kill everyone off til it's "Ultimate Spider-Man and Friends". I'm not complaining I just wish we had an expansion after all of this "Concision"

My problem if they kill off a lot of characters i that they're going to write themselves into a corner and are going to force themselves to start resurrecting them. Also shame to see Ultimate X-men come to a close. I liked the direction it was heading better than where mutants are in the 616

@cadencev2. What do you think? Personally I would have preferred for their not to be a retcon, but I can't deny that I am very pleased the ultimate universe is going to carry on :)

No there not, there going to kill of the regular characters so they can actually start introducing NEW characters instead of alt takes on the same old ones

I said it before they were not destroying the UU it was just going to be either rebooted or relauched. This makes me happy.

NICE. Always loved the Ultimate line of comics, I pretty much grew up reading those (along with some of the 616-universe stuff), so it'd have been sad to see it come to an end.

Also, they're bringing the Ultimate FF title back? Bold move, let's see how it works out for them.

I hate how the ruined the surprise a long time ago,G is jobbing again. And I was betting my bottom dollar that Miles was making the 616 jump.

Does this mean that ultimate x-men is coming to an end? I'd be really sad to see it go, as the original run was my gateway into comics originally, and then the reboot was what reintroduced me to them again.

Even if there have been lots of unresolved plots and abrupt changes in direction (Phoenix? Apocalypse? Ghosts of dead x-men? What?) it's been a pretty good book, and it was nice to see some different characters getting the spotlight without all the baggage of 616.

Sad Panda would like an X-book but I figure it will be later this year.

@frochez: I wouldn't say Ultimate X-Men is ending, Kitty could just be joining up with the Ultimates because it would probably be a good thing if humans say a mutant trying to help save the world and such again.

Let's hope they don't f*ck up this time.

I actually wouldn't have minded it if they did New 52 on the Ultimate Universe. It's already so messed up, a reboot couldn't hurt it. It might actually help since it was already a pile of crap before hand, save for Ultimate Spider-Man.

While I have great contempt for the idea of Cataclysm, I can't deny it's been largely well-executed (seriously no pun intended). The .1 opener made me feel for a universe I knew nothing about, and all of the Cataclysm I've read has been well-written.

It also blows my mind to see Cloak & Dagger (nevermind they're not the 616 versions) headlining anything, and I am extremely relieved to see them making it into this new era. Definitely excited for this one.

Interesting, I was actually wondering about this. Like I had the idea of an Ultimate Now.

so all the old guard (iron man, cap, thor, hulk, and etc.) are getting killed off to make way for the new guard made up of teenagers? ok

So basically this means kitty is joining the team that the rest of the group is already in and they're changing their team name. At least that's what I get from the picture.

Aww i'll miss ultimate iron man and all them but this'll definitely make me start reading the ultimate universe again. I stopped reading around the 14th volume of ultimate spider man or at the end of ultimate fantastic four but this should get me interested again.

Gonna be interesting seeing someone besides Bendis write Miles and Jessica is looking great on that cover

This announcement has been made too soon T_T But I guess I've been hoping for this outcome all along. I haven't read Ultimates prior to Cataclysm and I'll be no less than ecstatic to jump in come April (based solely on how much I have enjoyed this event so far).

Damn, I really hope Ultimate Cap doesn't die. I've always hoped he would get his own book. The Ultimate Universe sure does like killing people off.
