The Best Stuff In Comics: 11-3-14

This is where we present to you, the other best stuff besides the best covers, best story arcs, and cupcakes.

Normally this has been a VIDEO FEATURE for over one hundred episodes. We're still toying with the idea of changing the format to see what works best. It's all a matter of time for us to produce and in how you all prefer to consume this feature. I've toyed with the idea of testing a text version to see how it goes. Let me know in the comments below.

Each week we take a look at the other Best Stuff you might have missed.

JUSTICE LEAGUE UNITED ANNUAL #1

Best 'Beat the Snot Out of You' Moment

What happens when someone steals the body of your teammate? You want answers and want them now. Supergirl is on the case and asks some alien guy for answers. As you can see, she literally beats the snot out of him.

SAGA #24

Best Chew Toy for a [Lying] Cat

The thing about space, sometimes you come across some pretty vile species. Actually, I guess it's not much different than it is on Earth. As some Patrollers are dealt with, we see Lying Cat decided to take a souvenir with her. Cats like chew toys too.

AXIS: CARNAGE #1

Best Spider-Man Impression

Admit it, you've probably sung the Spider-Man theme song at some point. With Axis going on and with some villains having the urge to actually be heroes, Carnage (of all people), is trying to be a hero. Just try to imagine him singing.

WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN #11

Best Coffee Mug

Whether you drink coffee or not, chances are you have some sort of novelty coffee mug. If you lived in the Marvel Universe, or even if you didn't, you'd probably would love to have a Doop mug.

Best Adjusted Movie Quote

Throughout the issue, there were mentions and glimpses at a huge motion picture franchise in the Marvel Universe, Doop Hard. In one scene, Quentin Quire has the movie on and there is a sub-titled scene with a different take on a pretty famous quote from a different movie.

SWAMP THING ANNUAL #3

Best Use of a Popcorn Kernel in a Movie Theater

Swamp Thing tells of a moment, just after his return, when he didn't have a human body and discovered the third part of a movie franchise was in theaters. He couldn't walk up to the box office window in his Swamp Thing body and buy a ticket but realized there was a way he could see the movie. You should see the look on his face as it begins.

THUNDERBOLTS #32

Best Impromptu Battlecry

We've heard the big battlcries from the teams as they jump into battle. It's a way to motivate and inspire the team while also possibly putting a little fear into the bad guys. Whether it's "Avengers Assemble" or "Spider-Friends...go for it!" you have to give it some thought and coming up with one on the fly isn't always the best idea. So of course that's exactly what Deadpool would do, come up with one in the midst of an attack.

HARLEY QUINN ANNUAL #1

Best Reason Excuse to Eat Pizza

Do you know anyone that doesn't love pizza? I'm sure there's some out there that just don't like it. But Harley shows there is indeed a reason to eat pizza. And if you got the physical copy of the annual, you even get to smell the pizza. Just be careful when the pizza comes back up. That was a tough one to smell.

NOVA #22

Best Memorial Service

Poor Uatu. It's bad enough he was killed at the beginning of the Original Sin storyline. It seemed like aside from finding who did it to regain his eyes which contained power and information, no one really cared the poor guy was killed. Sure, he was a sort of cosmic peeping Tom, but that wasn't his fault. Thankfully Sam Alexander, Nova, paid some respects for the Watcher up on the moon.

Best It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown Reference

Halloween was this past week. That meant dressing up and trick or treating for candy. Sam decided to visit the Jean Grey School and came up with a costume in honor the classic Peanuts special.

WONDER WOMAN #35

Best Reason to be Yourself

This was a moment we were waiting for, Wonder Woman prepares to take on First Born. She realized that while she's "blessed with many gifts, she doesn't need them to fight First Born.

MARVEL 75th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION #1

Best Tribute

I already gushed enough about the anniversary issue in my review. Aside from being a Marvel tribute, the first story (by James Robinson and Chris Samnee) is a great tribute to the Fantastic Four. You should check it out.

DEATH OF WOLVERINE: CAPTAIN AMERICA AND DEADPOOL #1

Best Flashdance Reference

Wolverine met his end recently. By now you're probably aware of how he died. Deadpool explained it in his own special way and referenced a key scene from the 1983 movie. Too soon, Deadpool.

Bonus (don't expect these each week): Actual Flashdance Water Scene

In case you have absolutely no idea what the "Flashdance scene" was about.
