Spider-Island is about to overrun New York. If you've read this week's Amazing Spider-Man #660, you saw another clue as to what will bring on the Infestation. There's a threat against Spider-Man that has been building for years.
Soon, all of Manhattan will be quarantined. You would think that this would make the whole mess easier to deal with, right? That won't necessarily be the case.
The new Hobgoblin and the Jackal will be taking advantage of the mass hysteria to destroy Spider-Man. Dan Slott, Christos Gage, Fred Van Lente, Giuseppe Camuncoli and Minck Oosterveer will bring us Spider-Island: Deadly Foes in August.
Before you dismiss this as another simple mini-event, remember there's more. We already know that Cloak & Dagger will defending the front lines of Spider-Island courtesy of Nick Spencer and Emma Rios. Spider-Girl may have had her series canceled but she will also play a role in Spider-Island: The Amazing Spider-Girl.
But what about the new Venom?

In Venom #6, Flash Thompson might be America's only hope to end the madness.
How can that be? What about Spider-Man? Remember we spoke to Venom writer, Rick Remender recently at WonderCon? He mentioned how Peter would appear in the first arc and when I asked about Anti-Venom or Carnage, his reply was "...Spider-Island. See what happens."
Remender also said:
I can't give away who we'll be seeing Venom go up against, but they are all huge characters and fights that Spider-fans have been itching to see. Tom Fowler’s pages so far are jaw-dropping and there are some legendary bouts >cough< Anti-Venom >cough< awaiting readers.
It will be interesting to see how Flash and Venom will react to Spider-Man and Spider-Island. Will Flash be able to control the suit when all it wants to do is put an end to any and all wall-crawlers? We'll have to wait until this summer to find out.
