Rodriguez Returning For Transformers 3

Bay wants the actor to have a more "substantial role" in the film

If you had the chance to catch Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen this past week, you may have chuckled at one of Ramon Rodriguez's lousy jokes. Rodriguez, who played Shia LeBouf's

womanizing journalist college roommate, will be returning for the third installment of the Transformers trilogy. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times , Michael Bay indicated that while he really enjoys directing big name stars, that he loves it when he finds a talented new comer, too.

"I've worked with big stars, people like Will Smith, Sean Connery and Bruce Willis, but casting is a weird thing, it takes you places you don't expect,...We went looking for a sidekick in this movie, Shia's sidekick, and we find this new kid who really pops on screen. I think he’s going to have a real bright career. It's great to work with big stars, but it's always fun to discover people....He’s a New York kid with a street feel to him. He adapted to the actors very well, which isn’t always easy in a big movie, a sequel, where a lot of the cast chemistry has been set already. He’s funny, charming, comes off cool and accessible."

When I caught this reported in the Los Angeles Times, I thought to myself, good for him! But that isn't the really big news, is it? The big news is that director Michael Bay is already conjuring up ideas for what to do with the third Transformers film! Which means, we will see even more explosions and slow motion shots of Megan Fox! How excited are you, fan boys? It's probably for the best, too considering the amount of money that the sequel took home. It certainly wasn't chump change by any means! According to I09 , Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen managed to take home $201.2 million it's five day opening weekend, coming very close (but not close enough) to taking the previous record set by last year's ' The Dark Knight. ' There is no question that within the next week, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen will take the number one spot for the highest grossing film this year.

Are you excited to know that Bay plans to turn Transformers into a trilogy? How did you feel about Rodriguez's role in the film? Are you looking forward to see if Bay gives him more lines aside from, "can I watch?"
