Review: Irredeemable #19

Has the Plutonian finally met his match?

The Plutonian has been unstoppable since he turned to evil. Following the revelation last issue of a deal made with aliens in case Plutonian ever did turn, could this be the end of Plutonian's evil reign?

The Good

There is some intense action going here. Even though I've been enjoying every issue of this title, I can't help but wonder how long the story can go on. We have this unstoppable evil guy going around killing and maiming. With this plan starting up that could stop the Plutonian, could this mean the series is approaching its end? Not likely. I feel like this is only the beginning.

As always, the art and writing are top notch. I mentioned the action and there is plenty of suspense. You won't believe the ending/cliffhanger/twist that will make scream out because you'll have to wait another month to see what happens next.

The Bad

I can't say there's anything really bad about this issue. I was a little afraid it'd be just non-stop action without really adding too much to the story. Thankfully, I was wrong. The only bad thing was the "to be continued" at the end.

The Verdict - 5/5

Irredeemable has been one of my favorite titles month after month. I've mentioned before that the concept of the ultimate hero turning into the ultimate villain could be seen as cliche but Mark Waid has been delivering a great story for nearly twenty issues now. I have no idea where the story will go from here and that is part of the fun. Read this book. Buy the trades/back issues and catch up if you haven't.
