Mike and Laura Allred Headed to Long Beach Comic Con 2014!

The award-winning art team join the growing list of special guests at the sixth anniversary event in September.

We here at Comic Vine are big fans of the Long Beach Comic Con. It's always been a fun show with plenty of cool people attending. It's hard to believe this year is only the sixth year the show has been going on. We've been to every single one.

Lately there's been several announcements for the special guests that will be attending. You can check out the official website for all the info. But if you know me, there's one announcement I've been dying to share. Mike and Laura Allred will be attending the show.

Award-winning art team Michael Allred (Silver Surfer, Madman, Batman ‘66, iZombie) and Laura Allred (Silver Surfer, Doop, Rocketeer) will bring their incredible talent to Long Beach Comic Con on September 27 and 28, 2014. Between them, the Allreds have worked on some of the biggest names in comics, including Silver Surfer, Batman ’66 Covers, Archie, Daredevil, X-Men, Sandman, and Rocketeer. The storied creators will also be releasing Madman In Your Face 3D Special this winter.

All weekend at Long Beach Comic Con, Michael and Laura will be signing prints and chatting with fans. They will also participate in panels, to be announced shortly.

“We're looking forward to hitting the Long Beach show! I grew up near there and always enjoy coming home and making my old friends and family come see Michael and I mix it up with our comic book friends and family,” said Laura Allred.

“Surf's Up!” added Michael Allred.

“Michael and Laura are a rock star team and have produced some incredible art,” said Phil Lawrence, co-founder and sales director of Long Beach Comic Con. “We are thrilled that they are joining us at Long Beach Comic Con this year.”

Michael Allred is an artist, writer, musician, filmmaker, and all-around artsy fartsy type who considers the comic book storytelling medium to have the greatest potential of all creative endeavors. He has worked with top comics creators, including folks like Neil Gaiman, The Dandy Warhols, Robert Rodriguez, Jamie S. Rich, Peter Milligan, Frank Miller, Mike Mignola, Geof Darrow, Kevin Smith, Matt Fraction, Chris Roberson, his “big brother” Lee Allred, and is currently playing in Marvel Comic's sandbox on the new Silver Surfer series with Dan Slott.

Laura Allred is one of the most celebrated colorists in the comic book industry, winning the Eisner Award, and along with her husband, Michael Allred, and filling their mantle with numerous awards including the Harvey, The Wizard Fan Award, Moonman, Shel Dorf, Barkster, and The Inkpot. Laura has developed her own unique coloring process using graphite and water color tones in conjunction with contemporary computer techniques and “pop art” graphics resulting in a state-of-the-art-organic quality.
