Marvel's Feige Says Skrulls Won't Appear In 'The Avengers' Movie

More clues about the adversaries in the upcoming film are revealed.

The closer we get to the release of Marvel's upcoming 'The Avengers' on May 4th the more the film's cast and crew have started talking about the project which will bring some of Marvel's biggest properties together on the big screen for the first time. The upcoming issue of EMPIRE which hits shelves this Thursday, January 26th will not only feature some very cool 'Avengers' magazine covers, but it will also include some few choice words from the 'Avengers' film Producer Kevin Feige.

According to SuperheroHype-- who happened to score an early copy of the upcoming issue -- the head of Marvel Studios revealed that the Skrulls may not actually be the adversaries in the upcoming film after all. Feige asks who "said they were aliens?" The mag questioned whether the "bad guys" in the movie would be "beings from one of the other nine realms, like the Frost Giants which we saw in Marvel's THOR. Feige replied that it's closer to that, although it won't be the Skrulls.

"Closer...It's not Skrulls, I've been clear about that. Beyond that, we want to hide it. The identity of the alien race is not impactful. It exists in the comic books, but we're not setting up the Kree-Skrull war or anything like that."

So let's briefly run through what we do know. The upcoming film will feature Loki as the main bad guy, but he's going to need a little bit of help taking on the entire Avengers team from what could be beings from one of the "other nine realms." Question is, who? Asgardian Cosmology consists of nine different realms, which are as follows:

== TEASER ==

Asgard which is the home of the Asgardians.

Vanaheim which is the home of the Vanir.

Alfheim which is home to the Light Elves.

Midgard which is the Earthy plane of existence.

Jotunheim which is the home of the Giants.

Nidavellir which is home to the Dwarves.

Svartalfheim which is home to the Dark Elves.

• Muspelhiem which is home to the Demons

Hel which is the realm of the dead.

The adversaries likely won't be from Asgard, Midgard or Jotunheim since Asgard is Thor's home, Midgard is Earth and Jotunheim -- home of the Frost Giants -- already appeared in Brannagh's THOR film. This leaves us with six possible realms that may appear upcoming Avengers film. Which do you think we will see? Who do you think Loki is most likely to team up with in the upcoming film?

You'll be able to take your pick of the four different versions of Thursday's EMPIRE magazine featuring Black Widow, Captain America, Iron Man or Thor. Those who subscribe to EMPIRE will receive a cover featuring all four characters. You can check out all four different magazine covers below. Which is you favorite?
