HOWARD THE DUCK OMNIBUS Returns For a New Printing in October

After this, and his appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy. I expect him to play a role in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel definitely has plans for this character, I wouldn't be surprised if he has an ongoing in his future.

I was really thinking that they were going to change Starlord's origin in the films and have Howard be his father....I mean we had his mom talking about how his father was an angel and then we had Nova Prime saying that his father was something that they had never encountered before and I knew that Howard was in the end credits and it just kind of clicked in my head that it would be hilarious to have Yondu meeting with his client who is off screen and telling him that they failed in their mission to retrieve his son...then have Howard step into panel b!tching them out....it would have been hilarious and I was kind of disappointed that they didn't go with that

While I don't think it's that, I DO think that with the success of Rocket in Guardians, Marvel COULD be experimenting with seeing if they can reintroduce Howard. To be honest, beastiality aside, I like Howard. I really do. He's got the same appeal as Rocket and even the TMNT, he's a talking animal that in no way SHOULD make sense and yet it's still a fun comic. After all, the novelty factor alone should draw people in, a talking duck with no superpowers, fighting monsters in a world full of superheroes..... How is that NOT awesomely absurd?

The funny thing is everyone else said the same thing your saying right now about Guardians of the Galaxy. And Marvel pulled that off to perfection, like I said if they can get audiences to care about a raccoon and a talking tree they call pull off Howard. Guardians of the Galaxy proved anything no matter how unknown can succeed as long as it has great acting, characters, writing, and as long as it's marketed right.

No, it didn't. The characters in Guardians of the Galaxy had a following (a relatively small following, but a following nonetheless. Howard the Duck's fanbase is practically nonexistant.

But I was talking about the mainstream audience, since that's were most of the money comes from. In the mainstream eye their both non-existing. If Marvel can get people to turn out for Guardians, it shouldn't be much of a stretch to do the same to Howard. Howard's fanbase is about the same as Guardians before the movies and the push. As in only hardcore fans knew about him like the Guardians. Howard does have a fanbase.

Last, in the last number of Original SinS [some week ago], it's show that he is the most intelligent person on his planet and one of the highest mind in the Universe! [Really, neither me or Howard itself think that this is true, but the Eye of the Watcher showed that!]

Yeah, it seems Marvel is trying to push the character more for whatever reason. Honestly I wouldn't mind Howard appearing in future Marvel movies, but only if it were in a "where's Waldo?" kind of theme similar to Stan Lee's cameo, but not as obvious and something fans have to actively look. Marvel could make into a weird easter egg hunt for their more extreme Marvel fans, placing Howard within their movies to be found for fun, yet without it actually interfering with the movies themselves.

Howard the Duck is hilarious, I'm actually really happy about this.

He was the star of the first comic-book movie I actually liked.
