Green Lantern's Girlfriend Cast, Blake Lively Is Carol Ferris

You may have heard by now that Carol Ferris has been cast.  Late yesterday it was announced that Blake Lively has been cast to play Hal Jordan's love interest in the Green Lantern movie.  This isn't too much of a surprise as El Mayimbe over at Latino Review reported last month that the role had been narrowed down to five possible actresses.
 
Apparently Martin Campbell was looking for a "slightly older" actress but Lively (who appears in the CW's "Gossip Girl") impressed the filmmakers during her audition.  Lively, as you can see, is a blonde.  We'll have to see if they keep her hair that way, dye it or give her a wig to match Carol's dark color.
 
The movie is set to open on June 17, 2011.  It'll be interesting to see if Lively and Ryan Reynolds will have onscreen chemistry.  She wouldn't have been my first choice, but then, I've never seen her act before.  
 
The filmmakers still have to cast Dr. Hector Hammond and Sinestro.  Although, I don't believe Abin Sur has been cast either.  What are your thoughts on Lively portraying Carol Ferris?  Do you think Star Sapphire will put in an appearance?
