Coming in October!

AXIS: CARNAGE & AXIS: HOBGOBLIN Bring Villains Out to Play This October!

Spinning directly out of the highly anticipated Avengers & X-Men: AXIS, two of Spider-Man’s greatest foes take center stage in separate three issue mini-series debuting alongside the next blockbuster Marvel Universe event. Today, Marvel is pleased to debut your very first look at the covers to AXIS: Hobgoblin #1 and AXIS: Carnage #1!

In AXIS: Carnage, writer Rick Spears and artist German Peralta take the symbiote serial killer to the streets New York City! With the members of the Avengers & the X-Men embroiled in their epic clash against the Red Skull and his S-Men, Carnage is poised to paint the town RED! But thanks to the events of Avengers & X-Men: AXIS, something unexpected has happened to Cletus Kassidy and his crimson alien costume, and NYC will never look at Carnage the same way again!

Then, the one true Hobgoblin returns for AXIS: Hobgoblin, from fan-favorite creators Kevin Shinick and Javier Rodriguez! Many have worn the mantle of the Hobgoblin, but there is only one Roderick Kingsley! As the Red Skull’s terrifying influence spreads, the merciless and cold-blooded Kingsley finds himself back in New York with a new mission. One that will bring out a side of the Hobgoblin you’ve never seen before!

“Two of the biggest Spidey villains get their own books? There must be something crazy going on!” says Senior Editor Nick Lowe. “AXIS is huge and Rick Remender and Adam Kubert have so much awesome going on, we in the Spidey office wanted to get involved.”

In the shadows of the Red Skull’s takeover, the villains will rise. Be there when two of the wallcrawler’s most sinister baddies barrel headlong into Avengers & X-Men: AXIS this October in AXIS: Hobgoblin and AXIS: Carnage. And the Marvel Universe won’t know what hit it.

I love that hobgoblin cover. What is Axis exactly? I think it's odd how Carnage isn't part of real spider man stories anymore. He just gets a mini event every 7 or so months.

Eh. Tired of Carnage. I can only take so many mini-series with him in them before it feels like all the same stuff. Hobgoblin is cool, in theory, but I don't like the original Hobgoblin's actions and his decoys.

"NYC will never look at Carnage the same way again!"
"One that will bring out a side of the Hobgoblin you’ve never seen before!"

I don't like the sound of that at all.

@flameboy298: Carnage USA is definitely the best Carnage story out there. Zeb Wells with Clayton Crain equals for a mean machine of Carnage.

I'm just picturing Carnage singing on that cover:

"And I'm proud to be an American! Where I can kill so freely! With a symbiote, in my blood! It just feels good to me! And I'll gladly tear out! Your organs! And mount them where all can see! 'Cause there ain't no doubt, I'll kill you all! Today just ain't your day!"

Is it me or is the only symbiote I'm normally interested in is Venom? Carnage isn't that big to me. Hobgoblin is good and all but idk if he should get his own series. I'll read it for the hell of it.

Probally gonna buy carnage just for the cover in hopes to get it signed and hang on the wall. But with my budget these days I can only buy like five books a month so I have to make them count. I can always find out what's going on in a series but to buy a book I gotta love the art. (I hate myself for saying that)

Rick Freaking Spears!! Very cool & exciting; I'm not even a fan of Carnage at all usually, but if you've been reading The Auteur (and you SHOULD), he seems like a great fit.

@comedy_brosusa: I agree to an extent. That decoy crap and always behind the scenes is annoying to an extent. The flipside to that in my opinion is it shows how intelligent he is and he aint just a "dumb" character. I like the idea of him building his own organization of sorts.

Now as for carnage, Superior Carnage was good, so was Carnage Usa, and the story with him and Iron man. This recent deadpool crap was garbage. I mean, to me its like a fodder episode of naruto which is horrible. Hopefully, this new book redeems that somehow.

The decoys are stupid, but I will say it IS good strategy, like you said. I've thought that it was for a little while but I just think there should be a limit. The whole fight between hobby and Norman in ssm 26 didn't seem possible because the decoy reacted to Norman as though he was literally Kingsley, which I know Kingsley brainwashed people to believe them to be him, but that just seemed downright impossible. And the organization thing is good, but again, is a little annoying, in my opinion, when Slott writes in random villains from the 70s we've only seen once or twice, and make them new villains with new Alter egos like we are supposed to know who they are.

and yeah, Carnage(the 1st mini series) was great. Same with USA. everything after that was crap. superior carnage made no sense, as he has never made an appearance in Superior Spider-Man.

yeah.....I might have to agree. Kingsley is really getting on my nerves right now because he never faces things himself. he always gets a hobgoblin decoy to do his dirty work. Carnage is just not...interesting anymore.

I'm glad deadpool mind f*cked him hard. Like you said it was getting boring, it was good to see him finally visibly upset.

haha, yeah. I just can't understand why carnage won't return to ASM instead of other books where he has no relevance. Slott will never do it when he's on the book(amazing spider-man), as he has barely even touched venom, and instead highlights no-name villains. But yeah, Kassidy has to do something big to make me change my opinion on him. I mean he IS a psycho in a symbiotic suit, which is a cool concept, but I would've liked seeing him in 'Amazing' before this whole AXIS thing so I could at least get the opinion of him being one of the nastiest villians from his roots, rather than a few mini series.
