Avengers #1 will soon be here. It's set for release on May 19, one week after Siege #4 goes on sale. The conclusion of Siege is said to begin The Heroic Age. I have to admit I'm curious to see how and where this new direction will change things. We've had some dark times in the Marvel Universe pretty much since Avengers: Disassembled. I can't imagine that everything is going to be a barrel of laughs now.

The other interesting thing is some of these covers/promo show characters that we've been told are not on the "Avengers" but instead on another Avengers team (like Spidey and Wolvie are supposed to be on New Avengers). Why is there a need for an Avengers and New Avengers team?

There's also a matter of the Secret Avengers. Will they be operation separately from the Avengers and New Avengers? I've always imagined them going on secret covert ops that the general public (and perhaps other heroes) can't know about. That seems a little weird considering Steve Rogers will be leading. He doesn't really seem the hush hush kind of guy. Or at least, he doesn't seem the dirty ops kind of guy.

Here's the official synopsis for Avengers #1 and a preview:
