Sorry, couldn't resist that one. We're celebrating Spider-Man all month long and, this week, we wanted to know which Dan Slott run you enjoyed more: THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN or SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN. Viners have been voting and debating about this subject since Monday, and now a winner has been determined. THE SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN didn't just win, it apparently had no problem webbing THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN to a wall and then knocking it out with one hit. Seriously, it took a big lead.
It's interesting to see how much opinions have changed over the years. When THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #700 dropped, there were some ridiculously heated conversations about the development. Slott's decision to have Otto Octavius outwit Parker and step into the hero's boots was definitely a controversial one. Watching this classic villain attempt to become a more effective wallcrawler was an interesting ride, and while some obviously weren't won over, this poll makes it clear that many fans enjoyed the journey a good deal. In fact, many expressed sadness over seeing Doc Ock's time as Spider-Man coming to an end. But fear not, Otto fans! It was recently announced that yes, we will be seeing Superior Spider-Man again!
The Comic Viner JohnnyConstantine explains why SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN earned their love.
"I vote Superior Spider-Man. The character was a breath of fresh air after decades of Peter being Peter. I love the character of Peter Parker, but sometimes change is needed to really make you appreciate missing a character. Superior Spider-Man did that. I loved SpOck as well. He was such an atithesis of Peter Parker while actually accomplishing MORE in his own way than Pete ever did. He had two AMAZING (or should that be Superior?) costumes, sensational tech, a friendly neighborhood of supporting cast members, and the most spectacular superhero hidden base full of minions. The stories kept you on the edge of your seat with how unpredictable they were and to be perfectly honest, it was just nice not having someone who took every single thing as a failing on his part. Otto didn't get bummed, he got even. It was a brand new Peter Parker, Spider-Man for just over a year. My only complaint is that it wasn't longer."
