@jonny_anonymous: I think "Winter Soldier" is just the marketing angle. This isn't really about him, it's about how Shen becomes the Iron Dragon in Captain America.

I really like the variant cover. The regular covers have had an Austin Powers, 1970s feel to them.

Completely agree. The only reason I'm getting All New Invaders is because it has Bucky in it. Oh what I would give to have Brubaker back on a Bucky title.....

Just from this preview I'm even more sure that's all this mini-series is. The past two issues have had so little of an appearance by Winter Soldier that I'm about ready to drop this title. Issue #2 ended with it appearing like maybe Bucky would have a good fight scene in this issue...but once again it looks like Shen gets all of the panel time and Bucky is left on the sidelines. -____-

That's the only reason I'm reading Invaders as well...since Bucky's last series got canned he's basically been left in limbo, aside from a random appearance here and there. You'd think from how amazing Captain America: TWS was that Marvel would be wanting to push the character more...

To be honest, I think I recall Remender saying that this is the story of how Shen turned coat....But I don't remember him saying Shen would narrate and star in it...regardless though, I hope the pay off of this mini is that Bucky makes a big appearance in the current Captain America arc

He made a short appearance not long ago in Remender's run, so I wouldn't be surprised to see Bucky popping up again. My main issue with this mini-series is that it's called "Winter Soldier" yet has very little of an appearance by Bucky to justify that title. Already two issues in and Bucky has barely even made an appearance. I was hoping with how issue #2 ended that we'd finally see Bucky in action, but by the looks of this preview that doesn't appear to be the case here either.

It's beginning to look more and more like Remender is simply using this mini-series to establish HIS own character, Ran Shen, and is just using Bucky as a marketing ploy to draw in fans of that character, but is really pushing a completely different one within the book. They might as well have just called this mini-series "Ran Shen: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D."

I don't necessarily dislike what he's doing...it's just different from what I'm used to read in regards to Cap (aka Brubaker) so I'm not totally loving it.

I completely agree. "Winter Soldier" is just to sell the books. But they're also not totally wrong because Bucky has technically appeared in every issue. It really sucks but at least we're getting "TWO" titles with Bucky in it, right?

I don't like anything Remender is doing in the Cap corner of Marvel.

I liked his Dimension Z storyline, but since then I've really come to hate his run. Remender has stated multiple times that he wants to write like old 70s crazy sci-fi stories for Cap, yet those are the exact kind of stories I feel DON'T work for Cap. What made Ed Brubaker's run such as a success, and ultimately what boosted Cap's popularity, was that it focused on Cap as a soldier, not a superhero, and was more grounded in reality (as close as you can in comics, that is). But Remender is doing the exact opposite of that and going to wacky weird sci-fi stories.

I mean we went from cool, corporate soldier/mercenary villains like Winter Soldier, Crossbones, and Alexander Lukin to guys like...

Not really, because while Bucky may technically have appeared in every issue so far in of The Bitter March, only appearing a few panels each issue still doesn't justify his name being in the title. When I pick up a title called "Winter Soldier" I expect to the story to be about the Winter Soldier, not him appearing a few panels and the majority of the book being about someone completely different.

At least in Invaders Bucky makes a complete appearance, having actual dialogue, and overall adds to the plot. Issue two of All-New Invaders opens up with Bucky taking down a squad of elite Kree soldiers. That's what I would consider a proper appearance. Not appearing for a few panels and then disappearing for the remainder of the book.

What has he done post-UXF besides Captain America and Uncanny Avengers? Cap is decent at best, like said above, he's trying to make it too sci-fi instead of soldier, and his Uncanny Avengers is pretty good (though I think overhyped at best).

I have to keep myself on a low monthly budget, so I haven't (but I heard that the Venom book he did around the same time as UXF was really good).

Not the biggest fan of Remender's Captain America but this mini-series is of great quality. I like how the Winter Soldier is being treated as force of nature pretty much.
