CW Allegedly Working on Live Action Young Justice Show

According to one report, it looks like we haven't seen the last of this fan-favorite team on TV.

Many are still disappointed about Young Justice being removed from Cartoon Network's schedule, but it looks like the team may make a return. Bleeding Cool claims a "reliable source" has informed them the CW is bringing the team back to the small screen in a live action "teen drama/romance series with a superhero twist." They say it'll be based on the animated show (and by connection, the video games and comic books titles) and is slated to air in 2015. As for who will allegedly be on the team, they claim it'll be led by Superboy and Miss Martian. No word on whether it'll connect to the CW's other DC properties.

No Caption Provided

If this does ultimately pan out, which characters would you like to see on the show and who would you cast for the parts? Would you even want to see this team return in a live action format? Don't be shy, let us know your thoughts below.

I don't see the plan dc has, but I sure do hope they have one.

Their plan is simplicity itself! Here, I'll show you the record from the meeting in which they decided all this.

"M'kay, I wrote down all the comic book properties we own on these darts here. We're going to throw them at the wall and whatever sticks is what we make."

"We have no idea what we're doing, do we."

"WE DO TOO! SHUT UP!"

Regardless, all this crap and STILL no Question show? REALLY?! It could be great! And it's on a TV series scale!

Why does there have to be a plan?

Why does it have to be more complicated then "We have a good idea for a TV show, lets make one"

Err okay, I prefer the cartoon. How the hell would you show Miss Martian's shapeshifting abilities on a low budget TV show? Come WB, put your shows on Starz, TNT and HBO. Come on put The Question on TV!

^This sounds like it will be one of CW's crappy drama shows and not an actual comic show. Which is sad considering how good the animated series was.

Gosh! Can everyone just shut up and think for one second that this could be just as good as Arrow? There's isn't even enough information on who's writing it or what it looks like. Who are we to start judging and even start hating? This site is even has more hate than the ones on facebook, which I'm surprised by because this site is usually positive on things. I'm sick of hate for something new all the time! Also, there is no details of it being like Smallville or teen drama and anyway, isn't that what the Young Justice cartoon series was a teen drama-action cartoon show? It being a teen drama show is what made the show grow. Teen drama is the way for character development, it's like no one understands what the word means and Arrow is nothing like Smallville so I think CW already has learned their lesson on what a comic book TV series should be.

I think this would be a great idea because we will now have an HOUR of Young Justice to look forward to each week, this show will now have a chance to gain a new audience that stood away because like most America viewers tend to think that cartoon are just kids. This will let them know based on how good the TV series is, to look back on cartoon series. And if the fan base grows this can last to TEN seasons unlike 2-6 seasons from cartoon shows. That's main problem with action animation these days they always get refresh with new versions every 4 or 2 years. They never let the cartoons grow to many seasons despite the views. That's why we don't see any cartoons last longer than 6 seasons unless it's comedy cartoons like South Park, Simpsons, Family Guy, "Regular Time" (lol), etc.

The only downside I can see about this the budget for super powers to be shown each week and the typical villain of the week episodes will be shown. Arrow still does that to some extent. I'm just really happy that DC is still finding a way to bring this show back and who knows maybe the writers from Young Justice will be writing this live-action version of the series. So let's think positive about this.

Ugh...why? So it becomes at typical teen show, with powers tacked on? It was doing well animated, so they cancel it and decide "Hey, let's bring it back, make it live action and aim for a different demographic!". That makes little sense. They say toy sales is why they canned it, yet I never really saw any of the toys, and wouldn't have bought them anyways. A game I would have bought (which won't be out for a while).

Interesting statement considering you know nothing about the TV shows mentioned except the title. Do I need to start using book by its cover cliches?

Smallville ran for 10 seasons, even if it was up and down sometimes.

And Arrow is a damn good show.

Don't know why they don't deserve the benefit of the doubt.

I liked cartoons fine...when I was 10.

No interest in them anymore.

....I actually loved Young Justice.....

Are you suggesting that all cartoons are for children? Or that older aged people cannot watch them?

Don't teen heroes who don't need mentors make more sense on the CW? If Hourman is getting a show, then why not Static, Vibe, Raven, Cyborg, Zatanna, etc.?

I mean, you could spin off almost all of the above characters from Flash, at least the science based-ones like Vibe, Static, and Cyborg, who could all have connections to S.T.A.R.(ling?) Labs, which will probably be around in the FLash show to explain the costume, rogues, cosmic treadmill, etc.

I agree that Arrow is pretty great, and Smallville was also really good. But c'mon, can you really tell me the assortment of shows doesn't seem a bit... slapdash? Lt. Gordon AND Gotham Central shows? Flash jumping out of an Arrow show? Constantine and Hourman? I'm interested in ALL these characters, and will happily watch their shows if they're presented to me.

But look at Smallville and Arrow: How far apart were the two, in terms of being made? And now we're getting... Lt. Gordon, Gotham Central, Flash, Constantine, Hourman, all together? WHAT? Which seems more likely: They suddenly got all these great scripts that were just too good to pass up all at once? Or they realized they're losing on the movie front to Marvel and decided to shift their focus to TV by making a bunch of shows hoping a few will get really popular and smother Marvel's forays into their TV/Movie Cinematic Universe efforts?

Maybe I'm being too hard on them, but I'd rather go into these with low expectations, expecting them hastily thrown together and being pleasantly surprised, than go into them with high expectations, thinking 'To make a show about someone as obscure as Hourman they must have gotten one HELLUVA premise!' and be disappointed.

Agreed. I don't think they even have a plan as these are all spread over different networks. They don't have a cohesive universe at all.

I don't think so.

Given the HUGE popularity of Cop shows I'm surprised Gotham hasn't been done all ready.

I agree Flash seems weird consider Arrow still feels like no-powers (Nightwing would have be excellent imo) but I'm still excited to see him.

Constantine too, would make an excellent TV show (especially after the bad taste in my mouth after "his movie")

Don't know much about Hourman tbh. but whatever.

Smallville ended in 2011. Arrow started in 2012...not that big of a time frame.

I don't think its matter of them losing to Marvel. I think its a matter of DC realizing they have SO many characters they're never going to make a movie for. I mean, Hourman? Its just not going to happen. Even Green Arrow is probably never going to show up in a movie. So they want to make some more TV Shows, because they're good at it.

Flash is probably the only exception, but they want to test the waters with him apparently. And there's several Flashes to use anyway.

I don't see how you can make it seem like DC is doing this in response to Agents of Shield when they've been on top of TV for years. AoS is the response to DC's Television success. Even their Netflix shows were in response to the increased number of DC shows announced.

Personally I'm excited. Because as said, Hourman just isn't going to get a TV show. Give us TV shows to explore the lesser known guys because the movies are only going to stick to big names. Even Marvel isn't exploring lesser knowns until they've gotten 10+ movies out. And until we see how GotG does, its still up in the air to see if its going to work or not (financially moreso than critically)

They've even had to get creative with Hawkeye and Black Widow, giving them Cameo's in bigger movies (Iron Man and Thor) to introduce them.

And even bigger known names like Hulk still only broke even

Which is why DC is so hesitant to write 200m dollar checks for every character when it takes so much time to build up trust and guarantee they can make a profit. That's why we don't have a Wonder Woman or Ms Marvel movie, because they're not going to gamble with 200m when every other heroine movie has tanked - hard. (there are other factors but still)

So at the end of the day they can make as many TV shows as they want personally as far as I'm concerned.

I dont understand why anyone could be so down on this idea.

If the show sucks, it sucks, no need to watch it and it will probably get cancelled. No one is being forced to watch it if it is bad.

Why not let them make it and decide then? The cartoon was pretty good, so let's see what they can do with a live action version. I'll look forward to it, and if it sucks, I wont watch it and it wont make a difference in my life.

Perhaps they should leave the show where it ended. It had a good run and they shouldn't ruin it by making it live action. If they continued the animated show that would be cool. The CW does not make good shows.

I am wary of this, as I am not one who is big with teen angst and drama, considering what they did with Ollie's personality in Arrow. The worst part about a live action show included is the budget that has to be worked with. I wouldn't be surprised if they did attempt to bring a love triangle into the show, really I wouldn't.

I love the initiative by DC to make all these TV shows, but everything on the CW is waaaayyyy too melodramatic. Arrow is cool because of all the action, but it also takes itself a little too seriously. I kinda just want the animated show back, please. At the very least, get it on a different channel.

One last thing, I'm sick of seeing all these pretty boy (and girl) actors taking all the roles in these shows. Not saying that I want them ugly or even normal looking, but I just want GOOD actors.

hope its more like the comic than the animated series. kon should be fun and not emo, the cast should be secret, wonder girl, impulse, empress, arrowette, robin and superboy NOT teen titans members using the young justice name. should be about teen best friends who just happen to be superheroes and all their crazy shenanigans ala smallville season 1-3 but with all this gritty dark crap that's popular yeah that's never going to happen. oh well got my ultimate spiderman at least

Keep it animated. Don't make it a random DC tv show on the CW that's not going to be connected to the current universe.

It's a lot better in the animation because it's more enjoyable, great characters and development, and that it's feels more part into the DCAU community. In a live action TV series - while you still can have that, there are some things you'd have to change around for a live TV series, plus they may have a different direction that may not sit well with fans of the series thanks to different ideas of writers and directors. I guess is what I'm saying that "I don't like change" and that it's better off left alone.
