Best Comic Book Covers of the Week: 2/6/15

Take a look at the glory these covers have to offer.

Welcome back to Best Comic Book Covers of the Week where we.. well... look at the best comic book covers of the week. The title of the article is pretty self-explanatory. Anyway, we are taking a look at what rocked our world, artistically, as well as checking out what you guys told us you loved on Twitter. Let's get right down to business.

ACTION COMICS #39 by Jose Juan Ryp

First up is ACTION COMICS #39 by Jose Juan Ryp. It's no secret that I'm a huge fan (which is a lot more than a "big fan") of Ryp's art, especially his work in CLONE. We love the perspective of this piece and the amount of stellar detail in the background.

SUPERMAN #38 by Kevin Nowlan

Next is SUPERMAN #38 by Kevin Nowlan. This cover is the epitome of silver age covers. It's silly, fun and it's actually modeled after SUPERMAN'S GIRLFRIEND LOIS LANE #27 by Curt Swan and Sheldon Moldoff.

STAR WARS #2 by Leinil Francis Yu

Here's STAR WARS #2 by Leinil Francis Yu. He really captures the essence if these characters and frankly, they all look really cool and the lighting from the lightsaber really makes this stand out.

SPAWN #250 by Greg Capullo, Todd McFarlane, and FCO Plascencia

Finally, before we get to this next section, here's SPAWN #250 by Greg Capullo, Todd McFarlane, and FCO Plascencia. The child from the 90s, inside of me, is going nutso right now. This cover awesome. Spawn looks awesome, and even though I haven't read this book in roughly 200 issues, I'm pumped for it.

A Whole Bunch of Phil Noto Variant Covers

We love Phil Noto here. His artwork is fantastic and we find it crazy that he can put out a monthly book and has time to do a bunch of variant covers. Here's Noto's variant covers for HULK #11, AVENGERS #41, ANT-MAN #2, and ANGELA #3.

Twitter Picks: AVENGERS #41 by Brian Hitch

No Caption Provided

The folks on Twitter picked THE ULTIMATES #1 AVENGERS #41 by Bryan Hitch. I hate to break the news, but this cover is 13 years old with a new logo dropped on top. Regardless, it's an iconic cover in the history of Marvel, seeing as it opened up the Ultimate Era to more than just Spider-Man. This cover is a grim reminder that the Ultimate universe is about to go away for good.

Twitter Pick 2: SPAWN #250 by Skottie Young

No Caption Provided

Finally, here's SPAWN #250 by Skottie Young. I feel like in some weird way this cover making the list brightens my day, even though the story behind the character is horribly depressing. #250 issues is a huge accomplishment, since there are very few books even over 100 issues currently. Also, I would totally read a SPAWN comic drawn by Skottie Young.
