It's that time of the week. Time to look at the latest edition of Best Battles in New Comics. Comics often feature big battles with superheroes fighting supervillains. Sometimes we even have superheroes fighting other superheroes. Get ready to cheer and possibly cringe at the brutal punches being thrown.
There will be some spoilers below!
INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #4
(By Brian Michael Bendis, David Marquez, and Justin Ponsor)
It's not easy being Iron Man. He may have a nice fancy suit of amor but he just found himself getting attacked by ninjas. Ninjas would be bad but these aren't regular ninjas. They're super cyber-ninjas. Tony figures they still won't be a problem but he soon finds out it's not as simple as he thought.
Knowing he's surrounded, he actually does something pretty cool. Tony falls back on some Steve Rogers hand-to-hand fighting. Unfortunately, it's not enough.
Changing his armor up and grabbing one of their swords, he's able to start to get the upper hand.
Obviously you'll want to see what happens next. But we have to move on to the next fight.
MIDNIGHTER #7
(By Steve Orlando, ACO, Hugo Petrus, and Romulo Fajardo Jr)
Midnighter got caught off guard and is in the middle of a fight with Prometheus. Prometheus can record any skill and instill it into his brain. So basically, if he sees someone fight, he can fight just like them.
There's a lot of mind games going on. Also, Prometheus has information on Midnighter's past. He downloaded the info into his brain and deleted all records of it.
This is Midnighter we're talking about. He's not just going to give in, regardless what's at stake. Check out this move.
What happens next? What does all this mean? You know what it means. It means you need to buy the comic to find out.
STAR WARS #13
(By Jason Aaron, Mike Deodato, and Frank Martin Jr)
There's a few fights going on here at the same time. Surprisingly, even though the story arc is called Vader Down, Darth Vader doesn't partake in any of these battles.
Last time, Luke Skywalker was taken by surprise when Doctor Aphra painted her assassin protocol droid, Triple-Zero, to look like C-3PO. Then Artoo faces the little BeeTee. You know Artoo isn't one to back down from a confrontation but he soon discovers BeeTee contains a full arsenal of weapons.
While this is going on, Han thinks he has Aphra cornered. She shows she has plenty of tricks up her sleeve. Triple-Zero is ready to zap Luke if Han doesn't give up. Then they remember that Han doesn't usually travel alone.
Remember that line about Wookies pulling people's arms off? Triple-Zero discovers this first hand (or first arm) as Chewbacca comes up from behind, tears off his arm, and starts beating him with it.
Triple-Zero gets away only to come up on Luke once again. He wants to get his hands (or hand) on Luke and drain his blood or whatever other cruel thing he can think of. Good thing Luke still has his lightsaber.
The funny thing is, the fight is far from over. BeeTee is still around blowing everything up. That lightsaber attack doesn't even put Triple-Zero out of commission. There's just a lot going on here.
Unfortunately, that's all the time we have for this week.
