Awesome Toy Picks: Juggernaut and the Justice League

A selection of new and old action figures you should add to your collection.

Each week we stroll down the toy aisle to see what cool action figures are on sale. This week's top pick is massive. It's the Marvel Select release of the Juggernaut.

The Marvel Select figures tend to pay close attention to detail. Juggernaut is no exception. Standing at 9" tall and weighing just about 3 lbs, this figure will tower over the others in your collection. With a price tag of just under $20, you'll want to grab this figure while you still can at the retail price. I got mine through EntertainmentEarth.com but they appear to be temporarily out of stock. Amazon appears to still have it. Happy hunting.

What about articulation? I counted fourteen points. The packaging shows there's a variant without the helmet but he definitely looks cooler with it on. There's no accessories because he's the Juggernaut. He doesn't need any. He does come with a little cardboard backdrop (really little, see one of the pics below) and it has an image on both sides.

Check out these other images of Juggernaut in action. Note: the items in his destruction are not included.

Juggernaut isn't just about destruction. Even he can stop once in a while to smell the flowers.

Now it's time to look at some figures from yester-year. These are still available through online sites (even Amazon) and ebay. In 1996, Kenner released a few lines of...Total Justice.

No Caption Provided

The line was actually called Batman: Total Justice since Batman figures were hot in the 90s. Many DC heroes and villains were include, most with (kind of lame) accessories but the wide variety gave us some figures we hadn't seen before.

You can see they're pretty...muscular. Some have slightly awkward poses. These are more of the display type with little...playability. Check out these other pics to get an idea of how cool they were. I mean, check out Kyle Rayner, Hal Jordan (as PARALLAX) and even Connor Hawke and Huntress. Sadly, Batman and Superman were a little weak.

"I'm totally gonna steal your ring!"

"Check out my calves!"
"I run so fast I've even developed a massive upper body."
"Tell me I'm in 'The New 52' or I'm gonna shoot that kid over there."
"Sorry Connor but you can buy my book on October 5!"

I still have the Flash, Darkseid (with some stupid Power Claw on his hand), Wonder Woman, & Superman from that Total Justice line. I think I had the Martian Manhunter one as well, but for the life of me I can't find it now.

I like Aquaman and Huntress. The rest look weird.

I like the Huntress one too. I don't know why there aren't more Huntress action figures and toys. She got a JLU and Hush figure but she never appeared in any of the DCUniverse Classic waves and they got up to like wave 18 and have put out a bunch of obscure characters. That surprised me the most.

Got my Marvel Select Juggernaut in the Spring at my LCS. Only paid 20 bucks for it. For that price it was such a great deal. The detail and how big it was is a must for me. Can't really find this figure any more unless it's close to $30

I've kind of retired from action figure collecting, (still buy statues though), but that Juggernaut is hand's down one of the best pieces in my entire collection. Every single person who collects should own this beast.

I have Juggs and he is even better in person. As for the old school JLA figures, I used to have them back when I collected the 5" figures.

I had the Kyle Rayner Green Lantern figure when I was a kid! The one in the picture is missing a couple accessories that came with it though (ie. transparent green chest armour)
