Ales Kot Off SUICIDE SQUAD

The writer announces he's off the title and who will take over.

DC's October solicitations came out the other day and quite a few people noticed Ales Kot's name wasn't attached to SUICIDE SQUAD #24. Instead, Matt Kindt's name was posted and Patrick Zircher was still on art. Today, Kot made a post informing fans that yes, he will no longer be writing the title.

"Dear readers —

Since the solicitations for October’s DC titles came out, I was repeatedly asked if I am no longer writing Suicide Squad. Yes, Matt Kindt is writing SS #24 and I am no longer writing Suicide Squad. Matt’s “3 Story" is one of my favorite graphic novels I read in the last few years and I look forward to reading “Mind MGMT" when I finally find the time to buy the first hardcover collection, which you can find here. Matt Kindt is a very capable storyteller who is doing exciting things in the comics medium and I wish him great things.

I killed my deadlines, I wrote my best, and I have no regrets whatsoever.

Thank you for the ride, for your support, for everything.

Have wonderful days and nights.

ZERO #1 is coming out 9/18 from Image Comics. Come with us."

It's certainly unfortunate to see Kot go. In my opinion, the man did a superb job with the varied cast and made the book dark yet exciting. That said, I'm excited to see what Matt Kindt will bring to the title and it's great to see the super talented Patrick Zircher will still be on the book. At any rate, don't forget Kot/Zircher's SUICIDE SQUAD #22 goes on sale tomorrow.
