Actress Amy Adams Opens Up About 'Man of Steel' Movie

The actress reveals her excitement about the movie as well as whether she would reprise the role of Lois Lane onscreen.

We've seen plenty of Man of Steel images, commentary and more leak out gradually. Earlier this fall we got a look at the teaser trailer for the upcoming film and we've seen plenty of photographs from the movie set. Although we've seen what actor Henry Cavill looks like as Superman, there hasn't been a whole lot of talk from Lois Lane. That is, of course, until now. Actress Amy Adams who plays Lois in the upcoming Man of Steel movie recently spoke with Digital Spy. She was asked about the role as well as whether she would play Lois in the future.

"I would be more than happy to jump onto a sequel but you've got to, what's the saying, don't put the cart before the horse? Don't count your chickens before they hatch," she answered. "I always take things one day at a time."

Based on her answer, it seems Adams is not (at this time) signed on to do a sequel, but that the idea of reprising the role of Lois Lane is not out of the question for her since she did seem to enjoy working on the film. According to the actress, she "absolutely loved" the trailer and she is really looking forward to seeing the film. She also mentions she hopes "Superman fans [are] excited, too." It is always interesting to discover how much about a film an actress or an actor does not know, but it is nice to see that Ms. Adams is looking forward to Man of Steel. Not only that, but her appearance in a sequel is not out of the question. What do you think, however? Are you looking forward to Man of Steel and to seeing Amy Adams play Lois Lane?

Man of Steel is directed by Zack Snyder and stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, Michael Shannon and many more. The film is schedule to hit theaters nationwide on June 14th, 2013. Are you looking forward to the movie?

How about they make a good movie first? Then we see it,Then the sequel will happen. But we the fans will not support a terrible franchise because it has the Superman name on it.

And the reason DC doesn't have a lot of movies out is because DC is terrible at marketing, and the people that direct these projects don't understand the characters. (see Wonder Woman pilot, Green Lantern, and Johna Hex)

Agreed.

I'm not expecting much with this movie, cautiously pessimistic about the whole JL franchise, if this movie doesn't get incredible reviews and make tons of cash for WB I think they might scrap the JL movie, because if you can't get people excited for Superman then your not going to be able to for the Flash

I'm not going to say any crap about this movie yet, sure DC is horrible at making live-action movies but the Man of Steel does looks promising to me. I'm actually excited for it.

@Onemoreposter: This image looks kind of red to me. Either that or aubern. Or maybe I've misinterpreted it as red. In any case, the black hair isn't that big a deal IMO.

And as Dernman said, there was some outrage to Kilmer being Batman but I don't know anything about that. And according to Gambit, Adams has performed well in the films she's been in. That's a good enough reassurance for me to overlook something as trivial as hair colour.

It's not a dark Superman film. I still don't know why people think this. It's a more mature serious Superman which is a good thing. But it's no means dark at all. He's not gonna start screaming at people and threaten them like Batman does. It's just gonna be more serious. That's all.

Supposedly, if the movie is crap, I'm not going to go see it just to get a sequel. This is Superman we're talking about. He'll get new movies no matter what. Especially if he gets a "He's The One" movies like Donner did or Snyder (so far) seems to be making.

Yep, Superman Returns had some good performances lost in a mess of a movie, really was underwhelming. This one is almost incomprehensible based on what has been shown, I'm not asking for a spoiler but at least give us a solid glimpse of what is to be expected.

I haven't been keeping track of any of the reports or tracking the movie's plot etc. I saw the preview during the DKR and originally thought it was an Aquaman movie. Still, I'm willing to bet anything, it will be better then the last Superman movie attempt. Which isnt saying much I guess.

I know it's irrational but I too am opposed to the haircolor even though I love Amy Adams.

Here's my objection: I happen to really enjoy that DC has so many raven-haired women. Black hair is bold, it's severe, it's dramatic, you don't see it nearly enough. So many girls go for this sort of mousey, neutral, faded out look which is exactly what Amy Adams has. You call that Ginger? Ginger sounds to sassy for what that is. It's an indecisive brown/blonde shade of hair that happens to be sorta red too. It's dull.

I just don't think it's right.

@Icon: Yeah, but changing something that has been set into fans minds is just stupid when it doesn't need to be changed. If they gave Superman blond hair you may be more inclined to agree, (possibly, I don't know you so maybe you wouldn't mind that either! I mean no disrespect, just stating my point...lol) but in my mind without good reason it's just the same, you are taking something from an existing world and altering it due to some silly reason (like the actress doesn't suit that colour but does suit the part etc).

I get that, but I was simply pointing out that this isn't the first time Lois has had red or red-ish hair (both in live action and in the comics), so it's not that big of a change for fans (and certainly not like randomly making Superman blonde).

The surname Lang can be found in both Germanic and Chinese cultures. The Germanic version of the name is most prevalent among the English, the Scottish, and the Germans though I think the Germans usually spell the name Lange. Going off that and her red hair, I always assumed that Lana was ethnically Scottish.

At one point it was brown and then it was red. So Amy Adams is a ginger. Big whoop. It's whether she can perform the part of Lois Lane well that is the key crucial thing. It's not as if she's always had black hair so this is hardly a big change. As long as Amy acts the part, I'll be happy. You can't have everything you know.

And Bruce Wayne had brown instead of black hair yet there's not all this outrage about how he didn't go the extra mile with his character. Though he was a terrible Batman IMO.

Uhhh yeah I remember. Those were awesome times. Her hair was never red in the comics though. Also, your acting like changing between dark brown and black is the same thing as changing from black to red. It's not...at all. PLUS there's a long standing precedence of Lois being portrayed with brown hair outside of comics. Teri Hatcher, Erica Durance, and Kate Bosworth all had brown hair. You know who else had brown hair? Probably the most iconic Lois of all time.

Also, which Batman are you talking about, because like Lane, Batman in film usually has brown hair. You remember Adam West, Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, and Christian Bale? They all had brown hair while playing Wayne.

Yeah dude. Changing between Brown and Black isn't a biggy. Suddenly going blonde or redheaded from black/dark brown or vice versa is.

Yeah, Smallville was all over the place. Gotta admit though, Kruek was smoking hot, even if she was black haired and Chinese instead of redheaded and Scottish.

@Lvenger:

So Amy Adams is a ginger. Big whoop

It is a big whoop because they hire someone who doesn't look the part they are set to play and like I said even if she died he hair she would look the part.

It's whether she can perform the part of Lois Lane well that is the key crucial thing.

Being able to look the part is a crucial to being able to perform the role. If you don't look like the character then you're failing at being the character.

It's not as if she's always had black hair so this is hardly a big change. As long as Amy acts the part, I'll be happy. You can't have everything you know.

Black and Brown is a lot closer then red and easier to deal with. Regardless like I said it goes beyond just the hair when it comes to her looks.  No you can't have everything but you can at least try to get as much of everything as you can instead of not even trying. The past two roles they didn't even bother to try. If you're not going to try then why even bother caring about anything of the character.

And Bruce Wayne had brown instead of black hair yet there's not all this outrage about how he didn't go the extra mile with his character. Though he was a terrible Batman IMO.

I guess you don't remember all the outrage when Val Kilmer tried the role. I was on several sites that hated him because he didn't look the role. Not to mention the other guys who tried.

@Lvenger: I'm not asking for everything. I'm just saying that it's odd to me that she didn't do it. Besides, Lois's hair is dark, and has always been dark. Adam's hair is bright. It's not about the color, it's the shade (which is why I don't care about Bale).

@Lvenger: Well, I understand that actors have to make some sacrifices for the characters that play in order to inject more realism to it. One of these sacrifices, for instance, is dyeing your hair. Chris Reeve is an excellent actor and he played Supeman brilliantly, but he didn't have natural dark hair. It's hard to imagine a fair-haired Superman in such an important movie.

well with the hair color i can understand its like changing superman cape to black or blue. Lois was defined with black hair while lana lang has red.

Since many are expecting WB to get their shit together.... you know the rest

I LOVE Amy Adams, especially as the way she fills out a pair of pilot pants in "A Night at the Museum..." However, she is not a good choice to portray Lois.
