The original Captain Universe (Ray Coffin) saved Arcturus Rann and Princess Marionette from being killed by Baron Karza when he emerged from The Prometheus Pit and engaged Karza in battle. Arcturus Rann later merged together with Dr. Strange to become an incredibly powerful Captain Universe who combined The Enigma Force and all of Dr. Strange's Mystical Powers to heal the rapidly deteriorating Spacewall that kept Earth-616 and The Microverse seperated in order to keep them from destroying one another. He is also the current wielder of the actual Enigma Force from which Captain Universe is derived therefore making Captain Universe and Arcturus Rann the same being. This goes for Rann's ancestor, Prince Wayfinder, as well. On Earth-9997, Captain Universe and Arcturus Rann went to the Land of the Dead together when Rann was murdered. Arcturus was then seperated from Captain Universe who merged with Mar-Vell.
