The new Aquaman begins the hunt for his missing father and fights a savage duel against an Atlantean warrior over his alliance with the much-feared King Shark. Also, the fate of Atlantis is revealed as Aquaman encounters a band of Atlanteans led by Mera!
Worried for his father Arthur Curry is led by King Shark back to his childhood home,however he finds it utterly destroyed by the storm which sent him to the ocean. Upon arriving Arthur begs with King Shark for aid in digging through the rubble,finding several bodies which have been shot in the process.However he quickly learns he is unable to breathe on the surface with King Shark dragging him back to the sea,before telling the Dweller that his debt has been repaid to the young hero.Upon awakening Dweller and Arthur decide to seek out the boys uncle a lighthouse keeper from Maine to inquire about his father's fate on land,until meeting Juriti a brother of the prisoners Arthur has saved the previous day who brings the two to there queen Mera.Upon arriving Dweller refuses to go in to the throne,while Mera questions the boy of why he wears the colors he does before filling him in on the destruction of Atlantis.Mera then extends an offer for Arthur to join the emerging civilization, only for the warrior Atsiul to adamantly oppose the offer cause of the boys connection to King Shark.
Atsiul then challenges the boy to battle the next day,however upon the duels start Atsiul immediately demonstrates his dominance to the inexperienced warrior.However as the killing blow was prepared,Arthur surges with new reserves of strength and speed,however as he prepares to strike the killing blow he is interupted by the newly returned King Shark who declares the two have places to be.
