Annie Leonhart (アニ・レオンハート, Ani Reonhāto) is an antagonist in the Shingeki no Kyojin series that was created by Hajime Isayama. It began serialization as a bi-monthly series in Kodansha's Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine in September 9, 2009.

Her first appearance was in Shingeki no Kyojin Volume 1 CH. 2 "That Day".

Various English productions of the manga retitled the series as "Attack on Titan", the English subtitle used on the Japanese production.

Main Story Arcs

Annie Leonhardt left her village to become a member of the 104th Cadet Squad. At the training camp she became friends with every member in the 104th Cadet Squad. She met a man named Eren Jaeger who eventually figured out that he could become a titan.When she graduated from Cadet School, she decided to join the Military Police, because she wanted to protect her own life. Once she joined, she waited for the Scout Regiment(one of the choices she had after graduation) to leave the city and Eren Jaeger less protected than he was in the city.

Once the Scout Regiment left the city, she left in pursuit of Eren to stop him from killing all the titans. She became a titan to track down Eren and bring him with her. Chasing Eren down, She killed the Scout Regiments Elite Soldiers just to get to Eren. She eventually got to Eren after killing his squad and eats him. She almost got away with him until Levi(Eren's squad leader) and Mikasa Ackermann(Eren's childhood friend) stopped her in her tracks. They disabled her Titan's arms and freed Eren from her mouth. Levi grabbed Eren and left Annie disabled in the forest.

Later inside the city, Armin (Eren's friend) figured out that the Female Titan was Annie. They came up with an elaborate plan to trick Annie. Armin convinced Annie to help Eren escape from the city. She agreed to help, but she knew they were trying to trick her. She followed them all the way to an underground where she couldn't turn into a titan in an enclosed area. She turned into a titan just outside the entrance and ran towards the wall to climb over it and escape. She tried to climb over the wall but, Mikasa cut off her Titan's fingers, attempting to keep her inside. She fell to the ground after attempting to climb up the wall and it disoriented her. Eren jumped on her as a titan and ripped her out of her Titan's body, but she encased herself in a rock hard crystal before they could get any answers from her.

Powers & Abilities

Advanced Hand to Hand- Annie has shown feats of hand to hand combat. She has shown to have the best hand to hand combat shown so far in the series. She has out done Eren Yeager in hand to hand combat multiple times.

Transformation (Titan)- Annie has the ability to transform into a titan by self mutilation. She can also control the titan.

Hardened Skin- When in titan form, she can harden her skin into a crystal structure and protect herself from the disposable blades that the Regiments/Army use. She can also use the hardened crystal structure to make claws which help her climb and make weapons in combat.

Titan Scream- Annie, when in titan form, can scream calling more titans to her aid in battle. She was the one that called all the titans to battle when the armored titan broke the gate in the wall.

Healing- In titan form, Annie has an enhanced healing factor just like the rest of the titans.

Super Strength and Super Speed- As a titan, Annie has shown super strength and super speed by easily disposing of the Veteran Class Scout Regiment Troops. She has also shown super speed and strength by kicking straight through Eren's Titan head and a tree before even realizing that it happened.

Swordsmanship- Annie was said to be flawless with the disposable swords when using the 3D Maneuvering Device. She has taken titans down with ease.

Shingeki no Kyojin (2013)

Shingeki no Kyojin (進撃の巨人 Shingeki no Kyojin) is the anime adaptation of Hajime Isayama's original manga series produced by Wit Studio. The series is directed by Tetsurō Araki. The first episode aired on April 6, 2013 and ran for 25 episodes. The series was also officially simulcast with full English subtitles, under the name "Attack on Titan", through various websites.

Annie's first anime appearance was in Shingeki no Kyojin - Episode 2 "That Day", which aired on April 14, 2013. Her character in the Japanese series was voiced by Yu Shimamura, and the FUNimation English dub is voiced by Lauren Landa.
