    The battle for the stars takes a turn as the Guardians arrive.

    The All-Star Squadron have met defeat at the hands of Kung-The Assassin Of A Thousand Claws, Prince Daka, Sumo, the Samurai, and Tsunami. Prince Daka gives the order to execute the All-Star Squadron. Just as Sumo, the Samurai, is about to behead the Amazing Man, his sword strike is blocked by the sudden arrival of the Guardian. The Guardian's battle with Sumo, the Samurai, fortuitously renders Tsunami unconscious. Just as Prince Daka is about to attack, the Gravity Rod is wrenched from his grasp, by the Firerbrand. The Starman reclaims his Gravity Rod. With the All-Star Squadron reviving, Prince Daka orders a strategic retreat. Prince Daka takes Liberty Belle hostage.

    Prince Daka issues an ultimatum to the All-Star Squadron- Tsunami, and the Gravity Rod, for the life of Liberty Belle. The Starman seals the Trylon with a force field. The Tarantula binds Tsunami. Robotman reveals that he sent the distress signal that summoned the Guardian. The Starman is wracked with indecision. The Firebrand takes possession of the Gravity Rod, and Tsunami, to make the exchange. The Tarantula opposes the Firebrand. The Tarantula takes possession of the Gravity Rod. The Firebrand attacks the Tarantula, accidentally knocking him off the roof of the Perisphere. The Amazing Man manages to catch the Tarantula.

    The Tarantula is about to resume his assault on the Firebrand, when the Amazing Man, and the Guardian throw their support behind the Firebrand. The Starman recuses himself from the conflict. The Tarantula, reluctantly, backs down. The Amazing Man, the Firebrand, and the Guardian, keep the rendezvous with Prince Daka, at the Bronx Zoo. Robotman, the Starman, and the Tarantula remain behind, discussing whether or not the right decision has been made. Liberty Belle orders the All-Star Squadron not to make the exchange. Prince Daka strikes Liberty Belle, to silence her. Prince Daka honorably swears that there will be no treachery during the exchange.

    Tsunami is given the Gravity Rod, and sent over to Prince Daka. Liberty Belle is sent over to the All-Star Squadron. Tsunami notices an explosive, hidden on the path. Tsunami knocks Liberty Belle aside, and kicks the explosive into the air. All Hell breaks loose, as the All-Star Squadron attack. Despite having saved her life, Liberty Belle still attempts to subdue Tsunami. Sumo, the Samurai, holds his own against both the Amazing Man, and the Guardian. The Firebrand pins down Kung-The Assassin Of A Thousand Claws, with streams of fire. Kung-The Assassin Of A Thousand Claws transforms into an elephant, to battle the Firebrand.

    Prince Daka takes possession of the Gravity Rod. Before he can use it to destroy the All-Star Squadron, Prince Daka is disarmed by Sumo, the Samurai. The Firebrand takes possession of the Gravity Rod. Both Sumo, the Samurai, and Tsunami, believe that Prince Daka has acted dishonorably. Both refuse to serve Prince Daka any longer. Kung-The Assassin Of A Thousand Claws, keeps the All-Star Squadron at bay, long enough for he, Prince Daka, and Sumo, the Samurai, to escape. Freed of her bonds, Tsunami also flees. The All-Star Squadron let her go.
