"THE PROPHECY OF PERIL": (JSA) the JSA is being honored at Midwestern college but Flash will have to miss the reception because 10 years earlier when Jay Garrick was a student there a professor had some of his students write down where they thought they would be in 10 years and now they are meeting to see how accurate their predictions were. one of them named Turnbull refuses to read what he wrote and threw his paper in the fire saying it was foolishness.
when Flash relates this to his fellow JSA members curiosity compels them to find out what was written on it. they find he wrote he would be a villain named Mr. Alpha and use the science he learned to commit 5 perfect crimes. checking Turnbull's hotel room they find 4 travel brochures. wondering why there aren't 5 they soon find that Alpha has already committed his first crime, using chemistry to freeze the door of a safe until it shattered like glass.
splitting up Atom and Hawkman confront Alpha as he used Geology to cause a flood that helped him steal a priceless glass collection, Black Canary and Doctor Mid-Nite face him as he robes a casino during a hurricane, Wonder Woman and Flash face him when he uses exotic birds released from a zoo as a distraction for a robbery and Green lantern faces him when he steals a car worth 1 million dollars. in each case he manages to get away, seemingly leaving the heroes to die but someone saves them.
returning to Midwest college they find that Turnbull was actually the one that saved them and his college roommate who suggested what he had written as a joke was actually Alpha and easily apreh end him.
