Emperor Nero (37 - 68) was ruler of the Roman Empire from 54 to 68. He was a son of Agrippina the Younger and an adoptive son of her last husband (and uncle) Claudius. He was an actor, harpist, singer and songwriter though sources disagree on his actual skill. He was deposed by revolt. Many surviving sources are hostile to him but mostly reflect the views of the senatorial class. He was reportedly quite popular with the common people.
